no heat when idleing

my heater does not heat when the car is just idleing, why is this?
I have automatic climate control on my car which was set to 85 degrees, and it was sitting there for about 20 minutes.

Thanks!!

Is this after you start the car cold, on a cold morning? Or do you lose heat when you stop after the car is already fully warmed up?

The temp. guage is in the middle, car is fully warmed up. But if I stop and sit there for a couple of minutes the heat just becomes cold. It is weird I don't know what the hell it is.

I agree with njmaxseltd. Happened to me. No heat at idle. Radiator was half full or half empty, depending on how you look at things.

I had an old Cadillac that did just the opposite......heat at idle but no heat when moving. I was a bad heater control valve. Don't know if the Max uses something similiar but it might be worth investigating.

If it was the thermostat, it would be cold all of the time. Their cars put out heat when it is moving. After you changed the thermo, you had to refill the coolant anyway.
Check your coolant lever first.

so was it the collant level?

i am having the same problem now...

when idling for about the length of a stop light time, my hot air turns cold. If i rev it to 1.5k - 2k, it gets super warm again...

everyone thinks it's the coolant level?

I checked mine this morning and it was to the top. (just to be sure)
I simply pop open that metal cap right in front of the car under the hood... and see if i see fluid right? It was to the top for me...

maybe it needs replacing?
