I have a Frankencar intake on my '96 auto. When driving around under 2500 rpms, I would hear this whistling kind of noise. I know that some people have said it sounded kind of cool. Not me! I think it's pretty annoying. I used to have hybrid intake setup like before that consisted of a PR mid pipe with a K&N filter. I never got that sort of whistling sound with that setup. So why is the Frankencar intake, which is a similar setup have this problem? Is it the midpipe(leak somewhere)or the K&N filter that is on it?

They all make that sound, you probably just never noticed it. I personally love it, but I only hear it when I give a little extra gas while cruising.

 

I could swear my old hybrid setup didn't have that sound. I could be wrong though. Well as long as it's normal, I guess it's ok.

 

I have that sound. To be sure it wasn't a leak or anything, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything and it still came out the same.

 

Its a normal thing. I believe its the sound of the K&N sucking in the air at lower rpm's.

i'm pretty sure it's normal. my bro's hybrid setup (PR CAI upper tube and JWT pop charger) makes a whistling noise too.

 

Mine has that sound too. It is very loud when the AC is on.
