This is odd...

Happy New Year, all!
I have not tried to start the Max since late Oct. After Christmas the temps got up into the 50s so I decided to start it up and run it for a while. Unfortunately the battery had drained down to nothing. No problem, just put it on the charger, right? I thought so too, but when I did there was a loud hum through left side speaker with the key in the off position then with the key in the run position the hum switched to the right speaker. The voice warning lady never told me the door was open, either (that's a good thing). There is no sound system in the car at this time, either, so the speakers are not wired into anything. One thing I didn't try was switching the charger from 10 amp to 2 amp in order to determine if the noise changed or went away. Think this is a problem with the electrical system? Or will I be ok to drop in a new battery and go?

Try dropping in a different or new battery first. You might want to try to jump start it too sending a battery charger though your electrical system instead of your battery may not be a good thing.

could always remove the battery to charge it. makes it easier to check with a hydrometer, too. a layer of white grease on the terminals prevents corrosion. from what I hear, it's better to put a fully charged battery in a car than jumpstarting it. less work for the alternator.
