To go racing a lot of people do two things. Decrease the weight of the car and try and get more air into the engine. You can do this for example by taking out spare tires, backseats, passenger seats, loose junk, and a lot of other stuff. To get more air into the engine you can take out your headlights, foglights, etc. To allow for massive air flow into the engine to try and get the most power you can out of your engine.

Personally, I like to wash my car, make it all pretty, just to have a clean car to scrape rubber and chalk off of!

I talk to my car and let it know how much I love it. Them out of nowhere I get about 100 HP.

I actually just check pressure of the tires and I also give it a good wash

ive seen people do some things like removing stereo stuff from the trunk, removing hoods, seats. me i dont go to the track, i just race sometimes at the parking lot of an abandoned warehouse in homestead, very smooth surface no cars in sight, 99% safe. Before i race i just check if everything is workin properly(tires, belts...)and get hyped up by listenin to music. Now my car is sick and is in no condition to race

I read this somewhere so don't flame me if it sounds stupid. He said to put bags of ice over the intake manifold until the temp gauge in the car is near C.

This will probably help very little but it's cold outside anyway, just allow your motor to cool off before you race and push your car up to the starting line. It'll look kinda funny if, when time comes to race, you get out and take a bag of ice out from your engine. But I've seen some people do it at the track.

Weird.....I imagine that they are trying to trick the computer into thinking it's wicked cold making a better air/fuel ratio?

I don't think that by putting a bag of ice on top of your intake monifild will really cool down your engine since all the heat is at the Head and the Block.

Actually you would be surprised at how well putting bags of ice on you intake will help. it cools the charge into the engine it does help i tho have rewired my fans so they can be turned on when i shut the engine off that helps a lot. Brian

It can cool the intake manifold, yes. However, that should have no affect on the engines coolant (water) temperature. The temp guage won't change because of the ice.

I know people who are too lazy to take off all of their 18's, so they just take off the fronts and through back the stockies. Looks race like, heh....Personally what I did was rotated my tires, cleaned the air filter a few days before, through some fuel injector cleaner in there, and took out all the crap out of my car...When I got to the track, I took the spare and jack out of my trunk, and I was gonna be brave and take out my pass and back seats, but I didn't wanna bother...Also, I raced pretty much off the highway, and it was a 2 hour drive, so the car must've been boiling...Oh well..Next time I go, I will have a setup like others to have the fan operating while the car is off.

I only got 3 runs last time I was there...@$$holes were letting all the muscle cars run, while the non muscle car line was long as ****

Take enough tools with you so you don't have to borrow from those who spend the time to actually think about what they might need. ie "Do you have a 12mm wrench", "Could I borrow your tire gauge" etc etc etc

Also, pack a lunch, I hate lineups.

I can't go to the staging lanes with a loaded weapon, so I go to the bathroom and battle my nemisis(the five knuckle shuffle) before I get in line .......J/K.
