CHECK ENG LIGHT!after cleaning TB & replace fuel filter
CHECK ENG LIGHT!after cleaning TB & replace fuel filter
I dont know what happen.
I pulled fuse 32 and cranked car, it started and died.
Then I took the intake apart and clean the TB with TB cleaner from pep boys.
I changed fuel filter, (pep boys) and put everything back together, then I realized I never disconnect the battery.
Now the check eng light is on and the car does not dropped pass 1000rpms and if I give it gas it dies.
WTF!
Your help would be greatly appriciated.

Check to see what code you are pulling. Search if you don't know how to do this. A lot of 5th gens have been having trouble with their MAF sensor, just try and make sure everything is plugged back in.
Also your sig doesn't work, try [*img] (your web address here) [/img] you can try it out in the test forums area.
Good luck, you may try and put this in the 5th gen forum for better feedback.
Wish I could help you more, but at least you should get your sig up.

Did you disconnect the MAF, if so make sure its pluged back in.

I did not remove the MAF. I removed everything as one piece, from filter housing to the TB. I'm sure everything is back on right. I took it apart 3 times.
After doing a search I will check the little holes in the butterfly plate, double check the tightness on the clamp screws.
I want to reset the ECU, but I don't know where it is and I am not to sure I want to do it with out reading the codes....no code reader.
I think this problem was caused by not disconnecting the battery before I started. I have it disconnected now, hoping it will reset itself.
By the way, I am working on my 99 Max....

I forgot to mention that when I rev the car up to 2500 rpms, the car shakes really bad, it feels like the engine want to drop. If I give a couple of quick revs it dies.
Car feels like it wants to die when the rpms drop below 1000.

The ECU if I recall on a 4th Gen (I am assuming early model year) is just to the right of the gas pedal behind the plastic.
Did you hook up all the vaccum lines to the thin black box between the throttle body and MAF sensor. There is a small hose that connects to the bottom. Also, check to make sure everything is plugged all the way in, a plug that is not making conection could throw you a curve. Other than that if time doesn't work, it may be time to call a mechanic. I'll check in my Hanes manual for you and get back if I find anything.
Good luck, sorry about your car.

got the car back last night
I had to replace the MAF. I spoke with the tech and he told me that I did not need to remove my battery, he has no idea how it could of happened.
I don't know what happened, at least I got her back.
What do you guys think I did wrong, besides not disconnecting the batt.
Thanks anyway...

Did you "touch" the MAF or just spray stuff on it. Nissan MAF seem to be super fragile. When there is a TSB on it for failure in a complete STOCK environment...makes ya wonder.

If you did not touch it at all...W/O touching it, I assume that you did not spray TB cleaner on it since you removed it....?

I did not spray anywhere except the TB itself.
I cleaned my TB over the Christmas brake along with a tune up, fuel filter, and cleaned the POP. I also replaced the right O2 sensor because it was bad. After I started the car my RPM were high at idle. Sometimes even 2K. Anyways they are just now slowly droping but are not back to normal. I wonder if I have a problem with my MAF? Maybe I oversprayed the oil on the intake?

That is a good assumption. Search in the fifth gen forum (I think that's where I saw it) about the MAF sensor and k&N oil. When oil cakes the MAF sensor it will cause it to look as though it has failed. Dealerhsips will try and charge you an arm and a leg to fix it, when all you really need to do is get some cleaner and clean the sensor that resides in the housing. Do a search and you should find it, I believe the topic was K&N broke my MAF sensor, but I'm not sure.
Hope that helps.

Thanks a million you just moved on my hero list for the week!
whenever you clean your TB...
...your RPMS WILL BE HIGHER -- ALWAYS!
after a while, it will go back down because the ECU will figure out
that the air flow is better, and adjust accordingly...
so - no worries!
