Anyone heard of a GL?
Anyone heard of a GL?
Just wondering. It's not a model I see a lot of information about on here. However, according to my local Nissan dealer, (based on my VIN) my car is a GL. It's a Canadian car, no voice warning (a floater?), it has power windows, power door locks including the touch pad control on the outside, the automatic climate control system, a driver's side power seat (forward and backward only), a power sunroof, and the digital dashboard. The original stereo (since replaced) had a cassette and an equalizer mounted beneath. There is no power antenna override. It has 198000km on it.

I forgot to mention that my car is a 1988 model. The dealer insists it's a GL. Maybe Nissan kept the GL model in Canada till the 3rd generation came along?

The GL was only found in 85-86 models. In 87, Nissan changed it to GXE. So essentially you have a GXE, but with a different trim name. You also have a floater because you don't have voice warning, or antenna override.

The dealer that I bought my car off of listed mine as an SE and it certainly isn't a damn SE. I should have went back and asked him to give me some money back since the SE is worth more than a GXE. I really didn't care though cause the car's great regardless, and if I really wanted to make it look like an SE, it wouldn't be that difficult. Also, while I was browsing the net for a 3rd gen, they had some of the SE's listed as GLE's. Never go by what a used car dealer says because there's no way they could no every trim level for every car ever made. Us Maxima enthusiasts have more knowledge of this car than they ever will.
