2K2 Auto SE ATF Capacity?
2K2 Auto SE ATF Capacity?
With a flush, has anyone replaced their 2002 SE Auto ATF?
Capacities are not shown in the manual and I've read 14.5 somewhere and heard 10 quarts.
I've searched and saw nothing definitive. Would like to hear from someone who's done it. Probably going with Amsoil synthetic from Mark.
Lastly, how do you like it? I've got 14,500 miles nad wasnt to do this as early as possible.
I've changed out the oil with Mobil-1 synthetic and have been surprised at how smooth the engine feels and sounds.
Thanks

I would put in about 10 and then do adjustment. Just warm up your tranny in the garage will be ok.
flush with a machine - u will need a bit more ATF.
flush by taking off the pan and draining the remaining ATF from the hose to radiator will need a bit less.
FYI : I strongly suggest you to put less ATF in there and measure it again about 2 weeks later. Because new oil will be broken-in and it will expand a little. I needed to drain about 3/4 quart out of the tranny after 1 month.

I don't think ATF expands after break-in. It expands with temparature. You need to check the level after warm-up when idling. In my experience cold level is not accurate. This proceduce is explained in manual so please check it first.

Thanks all. Any impressions on using a sythetic in the 2K2 are appreciated as well.

What are some prices for Redline and Amsoil per quart?

Shadyz : Synthetic ATF or engine oil? both benefit the engine/tranny if u've properly broken in your engine/tranny.

Shaydz, have you tried calling Southern States? The service department might know (then again they might not).

I think I used 11 or 12 courts. The place where I got it done said that they were unable to add more once the machine starts so it's better to use more than less when having the auto tranny flushed. I used Amsoil ATF.
