Unbelievable!!! Watched the video, man he really shifts that 5 speed fast. All that and they have outstanding resale. I have a 98 Civic EX Coupe that is worth as much as my 97 I30. Both are in excellent condition and low milage. Only the I30 cost twice as much new! Never have had a problem with either one. Something to think about!!!

that's what gets me...they're both reliable cars, why does the Honda have such a recidulous resale value? Neither has problems...I guess its a name brand thing...

but even when I considered that (when I bought my Maxima over an 03 Accord) the 6 speed still prevailed...

1600 lbs. including driver and a redline of 10,800 definitely make a huge difference.

Yep, alot of it is based on carryover from the dawn of Japanese cars having a real presence in the U.S. Honda was, at the time, one of the most bulletproof and reliable cars which did much for their initial reputation and the ongoing loyalty of buyers. Even if other makes have met, or even exceeded the 'perceived' value of a Honda, it is the perception that rules a lot of purchases.

What I'm getting at is this. I don't have the knowledge to go the mechanic route so I attack the point I most know. Hacking the ECU.

The flip side of my question for the mechanic gurus is this. Will none of these pathways yield worhtwile HP # on our cars? Meaning different bore diameter throttle bodies, any other ineffeciency you can spot (I'm sure nissan cut many corners ) on our engine.

I mean come on, this is a ALL MOTOR honda, no forced induction. Even with forced induction and nitrous none of the better cars on the board are hitting anywhere near these times. Can anyone get me any circuit schematics help on our ECU?

I know what you are saying, but it weighs half of what our cars weigh. You can't really make a comparison.

I saw a older style Hyundai Tiburon that pulled low tens and had 630hp. It's still a crappy car. Different strokes for different folks. I liked my old civic and it went several hundred thousand miles with absolutely no problems. I like the more mature stance of the Maxima.

But as the saying goes anything can be made to go fast. That Honda is stripped inside and out, has a cage and probably lexan windows. But still cool. Just give me a Viper and I'm happy.
