Newbie, hard time searching...

Hey all. You got some pretty sweet rides on this site!!! . Anyway i got a stock, 95' GXE with Tints of 20%. I'm looking to do some interior light changing with blue lights. I am pleeding ignorance due to my new found interest in cars. I am not sure how to remove certain items in order to change bulbs, and what model # bulbs to get. I definately want to make the interior blue. I have seen a lot of products online and was curious as to suggestions on what lights to change and products to add. I was curious bout even changing the dome lights to blue. Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

I also am curious about how you guys clean your tints. I just got mine done and its been 4 days...they are still a little hazy and im not sure if there are little bubble marks or if thats part of the hazyness.

I read some posts about cleaning under the hood and there were so many conflicting ideas im not sure what to do now. Mine isn't horrible, but it does have a decent amount of build up and im sure it was never cleaned before i got it.

Sorry for the length, one last question for the day . My paint job has som very odd markings on it. They are not scratches but almost seem like surface marks. My cars color is dark grey and there are noticeable white lines all over the hood and swirls of it on the side of the car. I cleaned it many times and tried a few products from my local auto barn. I was curious what you guys thought of that and if there are any remedies.

If i can solve these issues i will be very very happy. My next goal would then be to DYE the interior panels. Thanks again in advance...

Go to lighting and have fun!

Also when cleaning your tint, make sure the cleaning product says safe for tint. My tint guy said the best thing to do is use soap and water, and use high quality paper towels (the ones that don't leave stuff behind. They use the ones from Price Costco a.k.a. the Kirkland Signature brand) and just wash them that way. You can also use window products that are safe for tint. Look for those words. As far as engine cleaning, just get some engine degreaser, and be careful not to spray the electronics and wires.. be meticulous

Good looking out fellas. I appreciate the advice. After i tackle these jobs i'll come bugg ya real soon! I've never had to replace interior bulbs or put in extra lighting effects in any of my previous cars. I was curious as to how exactly do you open the casings of the dome lights and other lights for that matter? And i'm sure the light part number will be somewhere in there??

Any of you guys from Long Island? I'm looking for a fairly priced and good place to go for this stuff. Ordering online is aiight, but i'd rather do it in person, ya know? thanks again.

custom does a ok job at price wars. Search around local for performace shops that have the Polarg bulbs 194 for the doors and for the dome light is the PIAA superwhite one.

To install all you have to do is take a small flat head screwdriver to the indented part of the plastic covers (there are holes for them) and pop out the lens. Then pull the bulb and install the new one. It's the easiest thing to do, trust me.

oh and, I'm from VA, so sorry bud.

P.S. that www.custommaxima.com site when you select the 95 year and go to lighting.. ALL the information is there. just check it out!

Re: Re: Newbie, hard time searching...

Yes i am close enough to drive to hempstead. I'm looking to change the dome light, and the map lights as well as the glove compartment and side panel lights with blue bulbs. I am not sure what part # they are or where to get em'.

I actually just got the 10" Lite Glow from Target for 16 with tax...not bad. Where do you guys usually install them to creat the best effect? I was thinking somewhere under the glove compartment. Any tips would be much obliged .

Just great i got to get my CV joint fixed! , oh well its only been cracked for 2 weeks, i was told that isn't too bad. It is goin in on friday. Do you guys use any specific towels to wash your tints? I know it has to be lint free...but anything in particular that doesn't scratch or leave streaks? Thanks!

I previously posted a question concerning some odd markings on my paint. They do not seem to be scratches...i tried feeling for rivets or grooves in the body...but there were none. I tried meguirs Scratch X and that only seemed to cover it partially for a day or so. Maybe you guys know what it could be or any solutions....thanks again...keep on riding.

Clean your tints with Windex Vinegar. It will not "purple" your tint like ammonia-based cleaners will.
