Where Oh where has my 700+ dollars gone.. Oh where? Variable Intake GB

Ordered my VI from John almost 3 months ago and still nothing. He's disappeared from AIM and doesn't answer emails anymore. He's gotten 100% of my payment and no VI. The 2nd half was supposed to be paid 1 week before delivery. That happened about a month ago. I'm starting to get a little nervous. Anyone get their VIs from him recently?

He has posted on the forum as late as 1/7/03. I don't think he's been on line the last few days. He usually answers my e-mails right away and hasn't replied to one I sent him yesterday as of yet.

He's probably just "busy".

You should get it soon. I got mine after about a month or two. I had a great transaction, he had great communication and I just ordered the install kit last week.

Chances are, he may not have any "NEW" information. I would not worry he will pull through.

I got mine a couple of days ago. I think John is busy and he doesn't seem like a person who would rip anybody off. Just be patient and he will pull through.

I'm in the exact same boat. He assured me that I would receive the manifold by the end of this week. I have ended up waiting a lot longer than I would have liked to though.

Last I heard, his supplier disappeared. The supplier went away on business then they were closed from christmas to January 5th. I hope his supplier didn't jump ship. I know John has come through in the past. I hope this is no different. What I found really strange was that I ordered the complete install kit from him and I didn't get that either. I asked if the kit came from the supplier or him and he told me he ships them. At least give me the 140 dollar kit so I have something to play with..

Don't panic. John is not Saddam "Roadbeast" Hussein. I know he's not on the org for days at a time. I waited about 3 months before I got mine.

Yeah, it's quite a sum of money. I don't mind waiting. His disappearance is what's making me nervous.

Any updates from anyone who was in the same group of orders? I just sent him another email. I am getting very concerned about this and it is exactly the reason that I absolutely hate using paypal and not paying directly by credit card.

Put some trust in him guys. Being that this thing is coming from overseas makes things more difficult. I highly doubt that he would just run off with people's funds. We all still have his fathers address.

I don't think so. The VI comes straight from Japan via air freight. The install kit comes from him. I dono how he would get them together.

I'd bet he's feeling as bad about this as you guys are. Sounds like this shipment of intakes has had one hiccup after another for him. First the misunderstanding with his supplier over the money transfer that was eventually solved (1 week?), then his supplier took a business trip and had personal time off (another week?), then Japanese New Year holidays where everything closes down for a longer period than the US (at least another week!). He had to wait for the Harlan switches for quite awhile but then Dawes stopped selling the vacuum solenoids on him so he'd be out in the junkyards finding good MAP/BARO switches.

It must be fustrating for you but don't ride him too hard just yet. Mine took a full 8 weeks without any of the problems he's had on this one.

Its not so much the time that I'm worried about. To be honest I wouldn't really care that much if I had to wait another whole month. Its just that he has dissapeared and not made any posts or replied to any emails. Thats whats really bothering me.

I'm with you. It's just not right that we haven't heard from him. If he's alive, I think we have a right to hear from him what's going on. The guy isn't even on AIM anymore. He used to be on everyday. He has either blocked me or he's really just not online anymore.

it seems that he may have just blocked everyone from viewing his name on AIM. I've sent him several emails through AOL, and he read the last one just yesterday (I can tell by checking the status of the email). Do we have any recourse to get our money back if this guy did in fact screw us over?

That confirms that he is alive and well! Now we have to take it to the next step.
