Is it possible to relocate the e-brake?

kinda weird issue...I have a 97 SE 5sp and happen to have an annoying problem...when carving turns/slaloming etc...I slide around and knock my right knee against the ebrake..is it possible to relocate the e-brake to the "other"/right side of the console? Are there any RHD cars that share a similar console with the ebrake on the other side that you guys are aware of?

Do you guys with cloth seats experience this too?

Going to race seats will be nice but not in the budget in the near or distant future

you could mold yourself a new fiberglass console... glassin' is a good skill to have, it'll cost you $100 or so for supplies assuming you dont screw up. i dont know about the mechanics of the e-brake itself though.

When I had cloth seats, I didnt even move at all since the cloth was "grippy" so maybe get yourself a used cloth drivers seat if you cant afford a race seat yet.

hmmm I think Cefiros in Taiwan have the ebrake by the left AC vent near the drivers door... so maybe J-spec Cefiros have the same on the other side

not sure though, I know the A33s all have that kinda ebrake not so sure about the '97s

just do it yourself or get... better seats like Nismo said

Mzmgt provided this tip to me 1/2 yr ago. It works very easily in a power seat.

To lock yourself in place:
- buckle up
- move seat back ~3"
- yank on seatbelt to lock it up
- move seat forwards to desired position

There's no way you'll be able to shift around in the seat now. Even doing shoulder checks on the right side is hard since you're braced in so tight.

I don't know how well this works with non-power seats though. Give it try!

Auto-xers use this trick a lot!

As far as moving the e-brake; the cables already are very short and there is a noted problem for 4th gen about ebrake cables. I woudln't recommend moving it....
