whats wrong with my car?

just looking to see if anyone has/had the same problem i do right now. When im cruisin around at about 30mph and up my rpm's seem to sit at about 1200 as i am gaining speed. the car sounds as if something is clogged up because when i punch the gas quickly the air flow seems to loosen up causing the rpms to fly. its hard to describe, but does anyone know what im talking about? the engine lets out a low droning sound when accelerating. i have an automatic and stock everything just for the record.

COULD ( don’t quote me) be a problem with your cars air flow, check the filter box and the "tubing" that leads into the throttle body, it might need to be cleaned.

yeh i checked the air box and throttle body and im pretty sure its not that. i only get this when my car is heated up and running in 3rd gear or OD. The RPMs just sit around 2000 while im accelerating and when i let my foot off the gas they dont go down unless i hit the brake. Any other ideas on what it may be?

You have an AutoMagic!

There's nothing wrong with your car.

The downshift when you floor it from 30 or so takes some time.
The hanging, sort of speak of your RPM's is your torque converter locking. It's supposed to lock up just over 30MPH. When you tap your brakes, it's signals it to unlock and you'll see your tach drop a bit.
