Muffler Tip

Does anyone have a muffler/exhaust tip installed on their stocked muffler... i'm lookin' for the looks right now... performance parts will come later in the summer... but this spring.. i'm having lots of things done... and to top it off... i can get a wanna-be aftermarket muffler.... i'm goin' all looks so don't flame on me just yet... i wanna know what's it like to have a muffler tip on the stock.. the sound is the same i suppose.. and how do i install it... will it fit by welding it?

Thanx

well, first thing you need to do is figure out how to take off the factory muffler tip/cover. Not sure if there's an easy way.

The shop where I had my exhaust work done just cut it off and welded the new tip to the tailpipe that was left.

There are clamp on and weld on tips. I prefer weld-on. Less chance of it falling off somewhere. Mine was actually a clamp on model, but the guys at the shop just took off the clamps and welded it on.

The inlet should be 2.25" to 2.5".

Prices range from $20-100 for the tip depending on brand, style, etc.

The stock one comes off with pliers and a hammer. It is a very tight fit over the tailpipe, but not welded. A lot of light tapping and plying will get it off.

I have a generic 3A Racing (Advanced Auto) 3" bolt-on tip. Nobody can see the bolts unless under the car, but maybe that's because I'm lowered 2.0". The tip is angle-cut and rolled-edge, and I "Who makes that muffler?" all the time. The thing I love most about it is that it sits perfectly flush with the bumper while being fully on the tailpipe. Anyways I have not had any problems with it, but now I am noticing the bolts that hold it on are beginning to rust. Whether that will be a problem for me, I have yet to see.

looked on ebay... there was no tip my itself.. only the whole muffler it self... does anyone have a pic of a muffler tip... jus so i can see what it would look like... i would also like a pic of the muffler tip installed on a maxima that has the stock muffler... again... i'm goin' for looks.. performance will be done when i get more money :-)

I"m gettin' a stillen aero kit on soon here.. and i don't think it would look good with a stock muffler...

and i don't want to sound like a rice cake... so i'm gonna go with a cheap way.... and get an exhaust tip.... which is probably the best lookin' and cheapest way for now...

any brand you guys prefer?

thanx again!
