"ATTENTION" ......all 2001 AE owners

I was surfing e-bay on Maximas and ran across this listing for a "2001 Nissan Maxima SE 20th Anniversary edition MINT"
<A href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2400415272">AE ON EBAY</A>
Item # 2400415272
Scroll down to "CLICK HERE TO VEIW ALL OF OUR PHOTOS!".
Look at the interior photos and the "Simulated metal trim" on the dash and console etc.
Now, Look at the single wheel photo and take notice to the "SMOOTH" polished center cap.
Look at full side photo of the car with the wheels....Looks good ..huh?

Now, for those of you that own an "AE" let me know if yours has one or both of these features, (ie..Simulated metal dash trim, Smooth polished center caps).

I have an AE with every possible option except navigation system.
The car MSRP was right at $31,961.
Mine has no simulated dash trim and has non polished semi ugly center caps that have Nissan molded in the center of the caps.
Where these features options or just put on SOME of the AE's?

Thanks in advance for your replies,
ScarabAE

These are not options on 2k1AE's
These are after editions.
The fact that they changed the center caps would bother me a little.. I don't understand why a dealer would do this.
The dash kit is a standard "Joshua Tree" kit. nothing special.. but not stock on an AE.

Hope this helps

Here are my thoughts...

1) The previous owner probably put in an aluminum dash kit.

2) Take a closer look at the picture of the wheel alone. The center cap is hardly 'smooth.' It looks as if it was sanded down and then painted. The previous owner of that car probably wanted a uniform look to his/her wheels instead of the slight color contrasts that the normal center caps provide.

I don't believe you missed out on anything with your AE. All that stuff was most likely done to the car after it was purchased.

Peace.

1. There was no Navi option on your car, so you didn't miss that option...you got every possible option.
2. The center caps were not polished stock.
3. The dash kit is aftermarket as well.

I like the look of those "polished" caps better than those mismatched ones that come stock.
