SE-R Kill

Lately everyone wants race me (auto 2k2). I was out and about yesterday and a red Sentra SE-R was revving me at a stoplight so I knew it was on. The light turned green and I was immediately 1.5 cars on him and stayed that way until the next light (about .5 mile). The next light he had a better launch than 1st time but I still stayed about .5 car in front of him. Needless to say I was impressed with his car as it was closer than I thought it would be.

That's why I bought an SE-R in addition to the Maxima. That car is an absolute blast to drive. Much, much easier to throw around than the Maxima.

I raced a spec-v on the highway.. I was pulling away hard until I hit my limiter at 143mph.. Stupid fuel cut off!!..
Anyhow, he ended up passing me..

Basically, you'll have the advantage as long as you don't have a limiter..

So, a Spec-V has a top speed of 140+, stock?!

I raced a spec v on the highway and from a stop. On the highway, it was no contest, I pulled on him instantly when we hit it. From the stop, he got a better launch then me. He was about 1 car length of me then at the top of second, I passed him and left him. By the time I shutted it down, I was ahead several buslengths. All races were done with no cars on the road. Fairly safe conditions.

I miss my plain old Civic because it was ultra-reliable, not because it was anywhere near sporty. It was a DX trim afterall.

As for getting the SE-R, I got it so my girlfriend can drive it. It suits her needs better than the Spec V. Originally, I bought the Maxima for her to drive a few years ago (the Civic was my main commuter car), but by the time the Maxima hit around the 35K mile mark, she wanted something new so we were thinking about a minivan. After going to a Honda dealer, she started eyeballing the lower monthy costs of a Civic, so I steered her toward the Sentra. She drove the SE-R and loved the price / performance ratio, so I traded my Civic in for one. I had intended to eventually trade the Civic in for the Sentra anyway, so now we both have a nice second car. I just pray it'll last us as long as the Civic.

I don't go looking for races, so getting the SE-R is not a waste at all. Again, it's a great little car. A little cramped in the back seat area, but it's a different kind of fun than what the Maxima provides. Smaller, lighter, and quick in its own rights. For the price, it was hard to beat...just like the Maxima.
