UNDER Drive Pulley and Subwoofers
UNDER Drive Pulley and Subwoofers
Hey guys, is it bad to run 3 12" subwoofers and a Under Drive Pulley at the same time?
One on left is aftermarket, one on right is stock part. So is it do-able with NO damage or it shouldnt be done because of damage?

I'm no expert, but I don't think any damage could be caused. From what I understand about the UDP is that it will decrease the power going to the alt by a slight amount. This would probably cause the amp to want more power and perhaps the bass would not be what you would expect. Most amps have a built-in low voltage protection so if that became an issue the amp would most likely be fine.

Thanks for the info, my friend wants one in his V6 Altima and its a show car, so I am trying to figure out if we should install one in his car or not. Needs to stay reliable, I wont want his batterey dieing or alternator breaking.

i'm setting up my system and i'd love a UDP, unfortunately you can't have your coke and sniff it too.
on the other hand, they are producing lightened pulleys that are the same size as stocks. this i'd like to question as to what it would do to the alt. and the power being drawn from it.
Look, this topic been discussed 1000+ times. SEARCH people if you dont believe me.
Lets take an example. I got 3 TVs in my car, PS2, XBox, 1000watt Orion Amp, plus other stuff. I dont have a problem in the world while driving the car. No dimming of the lights.

correct, a UDP would require the alt to pull more for the same power, therefore it's not ideal to be doing that on a system.

85% of the power gain is from the weight of the pulley.
