Weird clutch problem in cold - 2k2 Max

Yesterday morning, it was really cold outside like -15 degrees celsius, so i start the car, wait 30seconds and drive off..

The weird part was my clutch!!, I pushed it to teh floor and when I let go, it didn't return as fast.. Its as though the hydrallic fluid was frozen..

Of course when it warmed up everything was normal, but in the 7 years i drove standard, this never ever happend before.. Anybody else with this problem??

BTW, the 6 speed shifter really SUX @SS in the cold, if i was complaining about its performance in warmer weather, well now i am B1thcing about it in the COLD!! GRIND and clunky..

Oh well, so what do you think fellas?

That's normal cold fluid stuff. I've had other cars that do that. Happens to my 95 talon all the time in the cold. My SE is garaged so I can't tell you with that car.

Anyways, my talon's been doing it since new and it has a 130k on it. So yes, it happens to other cars and I think it's normal. I hear the compaint on various other MT makes as well.

Some say that a fuild change helps. Can't hurt to try

WHoops!! I knew i forgot something..

I HAVE AMSOIL 2000 Racing BLUE synthetic changed @ 5000kms, and now i have 30,000kms..

I thought synthetic tranny fluid should be in different to cold weather..

Thats how it was when i had redline MT 90 in my protege..

Yeh, my clutch is not too bad in the cold, but the shifter is definitely VERY notchy. It doesn't grind however, which I'd be more concerned with. The car has only 1200 miles on it, so maybe they get worse after a while (hopefully not). But, shifting before the tranny fluid warms up is very rough.

I'm pretty sure this is the case on most manual cars, not just our Max.
