Has anyone changed from Redline MTF in their 6spd back to stock (non-synthetic)? If so, which did you like better? I am currently running redline and considering switching back to stock to see if it improves the shifting now that the tranny is definitley broken in. Thanks.

In my opinion, a much better synth to use is BG Synchroshift II. Its weighted more like a conventional oil, but gives more protection than synthetics. Its great stuff.

 

Has anyone gone from (or use) the MT-90? Is it better than the MTL? Curious cause i got 5 qts of that ready to go in, and wondering if it's worth it. Thanks

Yeah, sounds weird-but thats the way it works . Its heavier feeling than Redline,(but still as viscous) but protects better than normal synth's.

 

I've used MT-90 in my 99' & 02'. It's alway been smoother and less notchy than the "stock" dino gear oil.

Whats the reason you guys want to go back?

 

I can't find non-synthetic 75w-90 gl-4 fluid anywhere, at least in MA. Can anyone recommend a place where I can find this stuff. The dealer doesn't even stock it..Makes you wonder when there working on your car....

 

Nobody knows where to get this stuff?? I need it desparately so I can replace the MT-90 before I bring it back to the dealer. Thanks in advance for your help.

 

Why change it before bringing it to the dealer? It is a 75W-90 gear lube that meets the GL4 specs that Nissan requires, so what's the harm of having it in there?

 

how much does this stuff cost?

 

I would check in at NAPA. I got some odd-ball lube there for the rear in my malibu a couple months back.

2K2Phat, you looking for the cost of the MTL? I think it's the same cost as the MT-90 i just got, and averages $7.50-8 per quart from a variety of dealers online.

Do a google search for "redline mt-90" and you'll find tons of places. I got mine from a joint in MD, i cant remember the place though..

 

I just want to put the same type of fluid that was in there originally to see if it makes it shift better and also because you know they are going to give me crap about replacing the tranny (if need be) if they know I changed the fluid.
