It's me again and this time I was wondering what is the best spark plugs to get? I due for my 60k Service and I was planning to get a engine flush, radiator flush, and change my tranny oil to redline mtf... Any suggestions on spark plugs? I've heard good things about NGK but I don't know...

I've tried the Bosch platinums and +4's, the Factory NGK platinums still seem to work the best overall. Best price I've found is around 8$ ea from UrbanNissan.com.

The NGK's are great. +4's suck! Ngk's are pricey but well worth the money.

Stick with the stock plugs. Most people here agree that they are the best choice for Maximas.

No no

I say stick with the stock NGK's. As said earlier, they are a bit more pricier, but they will pay out at the end. I just got the NGK's Platinums (a b*tch load of money) but let me tell you, they are in general the best spark plug for the Maxima. If you get the Bosch's or +4's, you personally won't notice the difference, but your wallet will when you have to ALWAYS replace spark plugs.......and also put more fuel in because you are not burning the fuel as well as you could with NGK's. Just my 2 cents.

Spark Plugs

Are you all paying $8 a plug? As easy as they are to change I would much rather pay $1.79 for Bosch Platinum and if I have to change them at 30 or 40 thousand miles then pay that price. It only takes about 45 minutes to change all 6 so why not save a little money because I cannot imagine that the quality would be any better when buying stock. At least in this case.

Let me just say that I know of someone directly that tried Bosch and ended up paying $2500 of engine damage. After hearing of his sad story, I wouldn't touch a Bosch plug with a 10 foot pole....hehe. yah he may be an isolated case, but I'm not gambling $2500 for a two buck plug...

As for the NGKs - I agree with the others they're great plugs. $60 for 60,000 miles? That's not really expensive.

I recently changed my spark plugs and when I found out how expensive the NGK's were. I decided to try the double platinum autolites, which seem to be very similar to the NGK stock plugs. They both seem to have platinum at both at the tip and clip. I've been using them for the past 500 miles and they make my engine feel slightly more responsive that my old worn out plugs.

Spark Plugs

I actually heard That Denso spark plugs are The absoulute best
They have been proven to add up to 10hp to a 6cylender car

I have these plugs in my 96 maxima and i definetly notice a big jump in power but the cost about 10bux a plug
But if ya want more power well worth it

The Maxima comes w/ NGK Platinums... at least mine did. You should only use the NGKs. You can use teh V-power if you want but it is recommended that the Platinums should be used. Plus, you change them less.

I may not know everything about engines but I cannot understand how a spark plug could cause damage unless they were removed and the threads got damaged which in that case Anti-Sieze should have been used. The ONLY job of a spark plug is to produce a spark. Believing that it could cause engine damage seems to me a bit far fetched. Not trying to cause any waves and if someone could give a reason why it would do this please post it cause like I said "I don,t know everything"

I can certainly understand your skepticism. And it may be an isolated case. But somehow, the plugs started to disintegrate, causing debris to fall into the cylinder - he had to get the debris out and fix up the cylinder walls. It could well have been something else, but without further info, I'd just rather not risk it at the moment.

If that was the case then I could understand that but with all due respect, do you think the plugs were so old that any plug could have broken up? Thanks for making the spark plug theory make sense though!
