Going to Nissan Dealership tomorrow on Dim SES Light and BOSE Problem...help

Hey, tomorrow morning I will be paying a visit to my dealer about the dim SES light and the Bose system that skips. Any suggestions on what I should say?

Should I say lots of 2k2 owners are having this problem on maxima.org or is it better if I dont bring that up? If they keep my car, should I ask for a loaner car? If they tell me no loaner car, should I call Nissan North America?

I need all the help I can get.

Thanks!

at night, do you see the SES light dimly lit? That's all... if it's dim, like it *wants* to come on but just isnt' all the way. They may have fixed it by 2k3.

*********UPDATE********

hey I just dropped the car off at the dealership, there were so many people there I just decided to come home instead of wait in their waiting room which was really hot and cramped...figures

Well, I brought up these problems but what if they don't see it? because this is only visible at night...and what if the CD Player doesn't skip this time?? I know these problems exist as a fact.

If they don't see a problem and they say "your car is ok" should I call Nissan North America right in front of them with my cell phone? or should I go back to my car and call them and explain them what happened?

Please Help! I am only 17 and faced with these problems..lol

OHHH Here's something funny: I went to a salesperson to ask about the HID thefts and he said its $569 for the kit on Courtesy Nissans Website for $60

I said I can get it for that price and he said that's cheaper quality...I explained it's made by NISSAN..both of em

He also said its $3000-3400 for the HID headlights...I said if someone ever takes it from me I am going to DAVE B (courtesy nissan)...he didn't like me and now I am scared he is going to steal my lights at the dealership

I just printed a few posts from here and showed them to the writer and told him that if he calls Nissan's Tech Support line, they will acknowledge the problem. I told him he had to be in a really dark location to see the light. He saw it, called Nissan, they confirmed the faulty batch of clusters, he ordered the part, they installed the part, end of story.

Yeah I went and it seemed like they didnt even check the dim SES light because it was bright as anything outside and I guess they knew of the problem. I have to drop off my car tomorrow at the dealership because of the mileage...I have no idea how I am getting home. I need a car.

********Should I ask for a loaner and if they deny me should I call Nissan NA and tell them I need one for school?

Check Out My Post Of Just A Few Minutes Ago

Just curious.
Is your car still under warranty?
I think it was a good idea, when I brought mine in for the dim SES that I mentioned that I saw many mentions of it on the web. I think it shows I did some homework. Anyway, the dealer ordered a new cluster for me. Said it's a simple job to pull out the old and install a new one. No hassles--I was extremely surprised. Maybe you should tell your dealer that this is the type of repair that you've seen most often written about on the web. Good luck...

You can either have them call you when the part comes in and drive your car or rent a car. It doesn't hurt to ask for a rental, but I wouldn't hold my breath on them giving you a freebee. This is Nissan, not Infiniti!!

Which Dealer?

Hi,
It's me again. I noticed that you're somewhere in Clifton. If your dealer gives you a hard time, maybe you can try the Route 46 East Nissan dealer. I think they're in Totowa. They're right across the Route 46 from AppleBees, Toys R' Us, and very close to Home Depot.

I went to Rt22 Nissan.

I was going to buy from Rt46 but I got into an arguement with the guy. I also got into an arguement with the Toyota guy at Bob C. Toyota on the same road.

The Nissan guy kept telling me that the maxima is in the same class as the BMW M5 because they are both sport sedans. I started bringing up power, prestige, refinement, and it costs that much for a reason. Because of my arguing he wouldn't move on prices like the guy at rt 22 did. The salespeople at rt 22 were nicer (because they wanted my business..lol)

The toyota guy was just an idiot. He didnt have the Camry SE V6 in stock so he says the blue isnt a bad color. The lighter blue. I think it was so ugly. Then he has to nerve to slouch in his chair right in front of us when someone went to check my dads credit. Believe it or not, this wasn't a regular salesman but a manager. Sad.
Also, another story at this dealership, my friend went to buy a used car and he saw a car in the lot. It was a Honda Civic. The salesguy tells him it's a corolla. My friend says no it's a civic. The guy goes to rear of the car and reads it and says "so you've been doing your homework" My friend didn't buy the car.

****Back to the Original Post****

Yeah so if they don't give me a loaner..should I call Nissan NA? I just want a loaner car..lol I don't care what it is, I just want a new car for a day or two. Especially if it's the altima (even 4-cyl)

You can ask but you aren't going to get a loner car. They have a shuttle to take you to school.

In most states, I believe you can't even rent a car if your under 21 or at the very least, 18. If you're 17, you're out of luck. As a side, how can you afford a Maxima at 17?? I didn't by my first new car until I was 21 and it was a stripped model. Lucky dude...

My parents really bought the car for themselves but they never used it. Really they never really did. I ended up using it more but technically it's still their car. They only let me drive it because I do good in school.

I don't want to take this car to college because I know someone is going to steal it or mess it up. That's why before september I am going to get another car for myself.

Here you can't rent a car unless you are 25 (from hertz anyway)

...I am not saying you implied this at all but I am not one of those kids who doesn't care or doesn't value the car because I didn't pay for it. I take care of it so much thanks to this website.

Nope, not implying that at all. When I was 17, my dad let me drive one of his cars as long as I took care of it as my own. I did, and I eventually bought the car from him. Just thinking that $20K+ would be very expensive for someone less than, say 20, could afford. Glad to hear that you treat it as if it were yours. Enjoy!

Driving a Max when in high school? Damn, more kids are getting pampered these days.

Are you getting a Ferrari at 21?
