2k2/2k3 cold start question...

Do you cars make a short whine/grind noise when starting in frigid weather? Just for the first 1/2 second as it starts...?

dunno, but my 2k is doing it.. freaking me out.. I've had the car for 3+ years and this is the first time its done it.

Yeah. My 2k does the same thing on really cold mornings. But after it warms up. It doesnt do it anymore

Its the timing chain rattle get used to it

I know what that sounds like, mine is not the timing chain. I wish it was.

Mine does too. Almost sounds like the engine running for the first 1/2 second w/o oil in it. I am going to have to send off the next 2-3 oil samples to see what is going on.

Yep, I get it too. Like Matt said, it's the timing chain that's somewhat loose for the first 1/2 sec or so--nothing to worry about though!
