I just put on a Momo Combat Shift **** (My wonderful girlfriend gave it to me for Christmas)and all of the sudden there is a strange resonating sound coming from it, like a high pitch whine. It is the worst in 3rd gear and stops if I put my hand on the **** or grab the shift lever. I never heard this sound with the stock ****. I figure it is due to vibration in the stick resonating throught the metal on the **** (although I would have thought the rubber cap that goes between the stick and the **** would have prevented this) I know this sounds strange and wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem or had any ideas on a solution other than going back to the stock ****??

I have a different Momo ****, but I have not had any vibration problems at all. It sounds like you installed the **** right. Did you have a short throw shifter installed as well?

Maybe you can put some sort of insulation between the **** and stick to minimize the vibration.

Good luck.

Shiet.. is it the leather with aluminum accent.. cause..

I just bought my friend one for a Christmas present (late cause they're backordered) Anyways, that's what I got him..
However, his max makes the same noise you're talking about but here is the thought I came across reading your post.
If it's not a screw on type, stuff something in the **** like cloth, or wrap something around the "threading" leaving enough room to get the shifter on...
let me know if it works and how you get the problem fixed,
Good luck

My Momo **** started doing that after I had it in the car for about 3.5 years. The two small "set screws" had untightened after 30,000 miles, allowing the **** to vibrate. I simply retightened the screws and the vibration was gone. I would suggest you retighten the two set screws and see if that doesn't cure your problem.

Noisy Momo!

Yep...got the same problem...

Do you remember the different sized rubber pieces that came with the kit? You picked the best fitting one for the car... if that isn't seated properly, it allows the metal portion of the shifter to vibrate against the ****... I have this problem because I've removed the **** too many times (due to it coming loose)... That rubber pieces is now wedged in good inside the ****... and it no longer fits over the threads of the shifter (STS in my case). Check there... Good luck.
