Any downside to mounting your amp under your seat?

I am thinking of going with a 5 channel amp and mounting it under the pass seat, that was it isnt taking up room in the trunk and less of a easy target for theives to take.

What do you think?

well I'm not an expert on the topic but if you run it hard it might get a little toasty under there. but then again it might not, I wouldn't run the heat on the feat setting for too long.

my only thing with going under the seat is ventilation. If that amp heats up a lot, I wouldn't bury it under the seat. seat = foam = insulation(no ventilation).

I ran one under the seat of another car, never had problems with it overheating, though it did make the passenger seat a little warm sometimes... The other thing you have to consider is that it's a pain in the A$$ to do any adjustments once everything is put back in place...

What five channel amp do you plan to run that is small enough to clear the seat and not intrude into the rear foot area? Other than that, ventilation probably not going to be to bad, but it's likely to get kicked.

I use to have an Orion 200.4 and an MTX...6500D i think...i got the 8100 now...and a cap...under my 2 front seats in my 94...talk a bout a PAIN IN THE AS$...always gets kicked, or in the winter snow got under there and it got messy and it was just a real inconvience...I ended up making a board and sticking it on my back seat...something maybe you can consider ?
