I have a 95 SE and just installed the JWT pop charger along with new spark plugs (NGK) yesterday and now under hard accelaration the car sputters and knocks. It feels like it's going to die unless I let off the gas. I think I smell the cat converter also.

Could this be caused by the placement of the small sensor (temp?) that was located INSIDE the original airbox? It is currently attached to one of the bolts holding the pop charger in place. Should I place the sensor INSIDE the cone?

I sure somebody else has experienced and resolved this issue!!!

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated. TIA

RKS

When I installed my popcharger, I drilled a hole into the base of the filter itself and screwed the temp sensor into the filter. I don't think not placing the sensor directly into the filter would cause this, but then again I'm not an expert. Try putting your stock air box back on and see if it still does it.

I had attached the sensor to the outside of the pop charger as well and had no problems with it. Did you disconnect the battery to reset the computer after installing the pop charger? Also, I would check the spark plugs/coils for some loose connections. Good luck and let us know!

Thanks for the info guys.

I didn't realize that I had to reset the computer. I'll try that tonight along with rechecking the plugs. If all else fails I'll go back to the OEM airbox until I can get the Stillen version or CAI.

I'm almost sure that it's the plugs you installed-->>

not the JWT... You need to check your caps or retorque and/or regap the plugs..

I strongly agree with this. Unless you used a hammer to install your JWT intake, I don't think that is the problem!!!

Thanks to you guys I got it going. I must not have snapped the wire to the coil plug on the spark plug all the way and the connector was loose. Runs like a champ once again. Thanks guys.

That's good to hear. I had that problem after I took my car in for a tune-up, and it was the same thing--the mechanic didn't plug one of the coils in tight....
