I just got off the phone with Cattman, and ordered the CAI. It should be here by this Friday. However, I didn't order the special blue powercoated one like I wanted. The salesperson told me I would have to wait up to six weeks, or more. So, I got the original one. My question is I wonder how many of you have the original CAI, and how many of you opted for the special powercoated colors? I wanted blue powercoat because it would match up with my blue valve cover, and blue hoses from Hose Techiques(which I'm getting soon) that I have in my engine bay. I know it doesn't make much of a difference just the color. I wonder, should I maybe paint it blue when it arrives? Or should I just not mess with it, and keep it how it is? Anyway, I can't wait until I get the CAI installed! WOOHOO! I'm excited already, and this is just for a CAI. Imagine if I was to get a supercharger! I would go insane!

I got the red one and it looks real nice in my engine bay. I have pictures at my webpage in the signature of my post.

i have the silver finish CAI from Place Racing direct. It took them about 2 weeks to get the dam thing powdercoated for me and shipped to my door, $220. I say leave it alone, IMHO. I left mine cause it matches up with the rest of the engine parts, my polished valve cover, polished hoses and lots of other polished goods.

If you need help with the install, let me know. It'll cost you a six-pack, though. ;=)

sinewave: Yes, I might in fact need help to install the CAI whenever it comes. Plus, I don't have the tools to do the install. So, I'll see if whether you, or Matt(Mardigrasmax) have time to help me with the install. Btw, what's your name? I'm Michael. And I might bring a few beers along with me.

Hi Michael,
I'm Keith. I have all of the tools we'll need except for a hole saw, but I can borrow one from one of the guys at the office. We can do the install in my driveway. I've got something planned for the next two Sunday's, otherwise my calendar is open. E-mail me and I'll send you my phone number and address.

Cattman vs. PR

Whats the diff between the two? Which is cheaper? Any difference in performance?
Where can you get those colored hoses and stuff and how much?
Thanks

The CAI is made by PR, but Cattman sells them too. I think Cattman's price is a bit cheaper. As far as color hoses, the company is Hose Techniques. Their address: http://www.hosetechniques.com

I didn't get the color hoses yet, but I'm planning to get them.

Keith: you got mail.

with the colors, its a little extra. i wanted the red one but didn't want to wait the extra 2 weeks. cattman sent me the blue one by mistake. its a very look at me color. i sent it back and am now very happy with the silver.. i called cattman and asked about painting it, they said leave it be. i have all the parts need for the install including the smaller hole saw. P.R says use a larger size but it can rattle a little. perfect cut perfect size... i'm in lower ny

I would not paint the CAI. Eventually the paint will peel and chip away and then it'll look like crap. I have a black powdercoated CAI. You should be able to find a place around you that powdercoats, should cost you about $50 if you want to get it done.
