How to swap pulley?

I heard one person say to swap to a different size pulley, it obviously has to be removed but the pulley must be pressed from the housing...as well the smaller Vortech pulley I bought did not come with any bearings/race/nothing inside...

I have seen lots of instructions on the SC kits but is swapping the pulley really that difficult...I had hoped it would be as easy as removing the blower, unbolting the hex-head bolt in the drive pulley and removing it from housing...

any info will be appreciated.

Tracy,

No pressing

Just take the old pulley off and slide the new pully on...

Removing the S/C from the bracket can be a pain... use impact tools... if you don't you'll strip the allen screws.

Man I BENT two of my Allen wrenches from my Craftsman set. Litterally bent them. Good thing for Sears, bring it in, get it replaced.

hmmm interesting, You can use the 3/8 allen sockets with the 3/8 ratchet. You will need a piece of fence pipe to break them loose. Just slide the fence pipe all the way down on the socket and then slowly press down to loosen them up. If you snap the allen socket take the plate with you to Sears and break them loose in the parking lot. I went thru 4 allen sockets on the last bolt & it finally came off. One more thing do not use a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter you will snap the allen sockets like pencils trying to use a 1/2 breaker bar etc..

thanks I may try that...seemed of the allen wrenches I had that fit , the 5.5mm was the one...for the small one...it torqued so bad I cut the l shaped part in half and it actually fit in the crevice nicely for the tensioner pulley bottom hex-head bolt...also number 18...
