96GLE won't eject cd after the battery died...

my battery ran all the way down (left lights on) and after getting a jump and running again. it won't recognize the cd that is in the stereo, and it won't eject it.. what do i do? it was working fine before? i tried searching, but cd is too short to search for, and i get poor results with everything i tried. BTW its a GLE so the stereo is BOSE. thanks so much!

Should be some kind of master reset on the head unit, or an emergency eject (like on your cd drive in your computer.... a little hole that you put a pin in that will manually eject the cd)
Good Luck

You try hitting the CD button to kinda tell it you have a CD in there?

Try to insert another CD in there. It may be 1/2 in and 1/2 out and the deck may be all confused.

Dude,
There has got to be a master reset on the unit somewhere, I gaurentee it. If you can't find it I would try disconnecting the battery again for a while, then reconnect. maybe now that it has had good power on it for a while pulling the power off and then back on may reset it. I wish I could help more, but every CD Player I have ever seen had some type of reset. Have you looked at your owners manual????? There may be a reset procedure in the manual. What year is yours again? I can look at my daughters manual (96SE with bose)
Good Luck

I have a website that has the procedure for removing factory stereos in 4th gens go to http://www.maximas.net/html/audio_stuff.html it'll show you how....in the mean time I'll look at my daughters manuals and see if there is a reset procedure in there...

I would try taking the deck out of the car. Don't try to eject it with it unmounted from the dash though. It won't work. Nissan used the top two screws of the chassis as grounds. Try unplugging the unit overnight. In the morning, plug it back in. Maybe that will reset it. If not, you could always try taking it apart and manually taking the cd out

I second this one. Each time I disconnect the battery and put it back in. I hear the headunit mess with the CD inside.

I looked EVERYWHERE I can think of, I can't find a thing. I did send an email to a shop that specializes in Bose head units and asked if there is a reset....they probably won't answer till monday tho.....Let me know how it goes, and if you get it fixed...just curious now!

wow, thanks for the responses! still working on this. disconnected the battery, but i don't think i did it for long enough, as the radio settings stayed (left disconnected for almost 2 minutes..) will disconnect overnight, that will HAVE to discharge it i think!
