city gas mileage
city gas mileage
i just calculated my gas mileage tonight and i'm getting 17.65mpg!! i do mainly city driving and my school is less than a 10 min drive from my place. i guess since the car is barely warming up by the time i get to school that kills the mpg. oh and this is driving with a relatively light foot too.

Damn I wish my gas mileage was as high as 26... basically I get 400 miles a tank.
I don't get it tho, how much of ure gas mileage would suffer w/ a catback and popcharger?

i get about 16 city and 24 highway. my CEL hasn't gone off but I heard that a dirty oxygen sensor can ruin gas mileage. I have new fuel filter, air filter, 35psi tire pressure, no dragging brakes, new spark plugs, etc. Some mechanics suggest not to change the O2 sensor until the light goes off but I'm beginning to think otherwise.
Is there anyway to clean the O2 sensor? So far I've heard of propane torching, brake cleaner...but does it really work?? who here has done it?

Same situation, goin to school and drivin in the city, but I let my car warm up nice and good. Needle has to be a good ways above the C for me to go drivin. usually about 5 min. gonna get a tune up and change necessary junk in the spring, so hopefuly itll go up.

My mileage jumped about 5mpg after I used a fuel system cleaner.
Premium fuel is a must for best MPG. Chevron is all I use.
Paid $2.25/gal for premium at Chevron in N Calif today (2/28/2003

city 19-21mpg (with occasional.......ok fairly frequent WOT)
highway 24-26 (driving 79-84mph)
I don't believe you can get 30mpg on a maxima
also popcharger/b/y pipe help mpg - but I think only slightly from my
experience and from what I've read on the board (I have all these mods)

Gas mileage
My last tank was 23.8 mpg with mixed city and highway driving and no racing. I have gotten pretty low mileage when I did race though. I have a popcharger, Y pipe, and OBX catback.
I have gotten 450 miles once on one tank before with 90% highway driving but that was before I got my exhaust and found the joy of a heavy right foot
. Edmunds.com claims a 98 max can get 499.5 miles on one tank but I don't think that will ever happen in real life driving.

I get about 17-21 city gas mileage. I went to a training class that's about 20 miles away for three days last week, and my mileage went up to ~24 mph with a previous week of full city driving on the same tank.
City driving is way nasty for mileage.

Bro chill out thats normal I'm getting around 17-18 MPG strictly in the city too, its winter, your cars running a little hard also you're probably using oxygenated gas. I don't get it I filled it up FULL on WEDNESDAY, and I don't understand how I drove 210 miles in the city 90%, and 10% highway and I'm at quater tank left
. This sucks... especially since gas is 1.76/gal for a full tank!!!

....sooo about 22MPG and that includes alot of heavy WOT runs, and alot of A/C, not as good as my last 24mpg tank, but whatever...

I have tracked my mileage on my '97 SE w/5 spd for three years and have averaged 27 mpg. My commute is 70 miles one way and is almost all freeway. If I drive freeway for the entire tank, I can get 31 to 32 MPG. Only upgrade engine wise is a K&N air filter. I keep my tires at 33 psi front and 30 in rear. Also, a free flowing exhaust will help freeway mileage, but hurt city mileage (probably because you're having more fun with it).
