rear sway bar question

All,
just a quick question. I received the Addco rear sway bar. The box says its 17lbs, and the bar does have some weight to it. Does anybody have a noticable 'weighing down' problem because of this? Also, any notice in the gas milege? I also have a speaker box in the trunk, 18's for the summer, and the OBX catback (which Im assuming is more weight than stock). Does anybody have on of these setups, with the bar? Im just worried about being slowed down...thanks

the weight has to be substantial enough to do its job...it has to prevent roll. If the thing only weighed 5 lbs, I don't think it could cut roll very effectively; it would probably break!

what do you mean by slowing you down?
if you aren't a hardcore racer, it shouldn't matter.
even if you are it shouldn't matter.
17lbs is so insignificant it won't make a difference.

your 18's will slow you down pretty well, but the rsb isn't a problem.

I think aftermarket exhausts usually weight less than stock.

slowing me down in say, quarter mile....my friend with a (honda) is talking all kinds of smack to me that he can take me... I currently have my stock 16's on, but the question is, is there a significant amount that I will be held back?

search for posts about why weight on your wheels slows you down more than weight on the car. 17 pounds of sway bar wont do jack to slow you down.

and i seriously doubt the obx catback weighing more than a factory piece

hahaha you're hilarious man...
do you know what 17lbs is? its the weight you gained last month, its the books in your back pack, the papers in your brief case, the junk in your back seat and trunk, the spoiler on your car.
i can't stress how insignificant this weight is.
you're missing the forest for the trees...

when you race your honda friend, your driving will account for almost everything, rather than the extra 17lbs.
think of it this way, the 17lbs will slow you down like 0.001 seconds on the 1/4 mile, and if you screw up the launch, thats 0.3 seconds
if you shift bad, thats like 0.2 seconds.
if you look at the big picture, the rsb will only benefit you on turns, and won't harm you in any way.

Then just take out your spare tire in the Trunk to reduce weight if you have not already.

The bar adds to the unsprung weight, and will lower center of gravity some. It will make your car slower. But you will have a little more traction in rear end. Will you notice it? Probably not. Unless you bracket race, a lot.

An easy fix is to never fill your tank more than half full, no fat chicks, and always take a dump before driving.
