95/96 clear red tail lights

ok. i have all cleared tail lights for 95/96.
I need to know how I can ripped open the tail light so I can paint the inner side of the lenses.
I know you can do it by heat gun, or oven.
I don't have a heat gun so I want to try the oven.
ALso, can i use a blow dryer? is that enought heat?
If i use oven what degree do i need to set at, and for how long?
If you know please tell me.
Thank You
Young

most of what you're asking is already there, just search for it, I don't remember what setting I had my oven on, but try 250 degrees for couple of minutes, and just check periodically for the softness, you should be able to just pull them apart fairly easily, put something underneath the lights so the metal part of the oven doesn't melt through

Heat gun is your best bet.

What i would do, and how ive seen it done, is with a heat gun, heat up the back edges, for all of a minute, and then test, be patient, it takes a while to do, just gotta be patient, will take you a good 15 min to get them both apart, maybe a little longer.. im not sure about the oven thing. If you take your time and go slow you should be cool.

just my 2 cents

Yea I would but I don't feel like going out and purchasing a heat gun. I already spent good amount of money on the lenses.
But I hear oven thing works great too

I put in a large plate that can handle the heat, another idea would be the microwave "plate"

Steal your Girlfriends hair dryer, that will work good, just take a little longer. The one reason why id would think the oven is a bad idea is because it heats the whole thing.. you really only want to heat the back of the lense, where the glue is. Like you said you spent a lot of cash on them, hate to see them get messed up in the oven, but hey its your call. Personally if it was me, it take the safer route and do the hairdryer/heat gun idea, but thats just me, im **** when it comes to my car

Hey where did you get those clears, and is there a chance on me getting a pair from where you got them Hit me up with an Email or PM

I don't think hair dryer is powerful enough to rip off the silicons...would it?

I donno, i think it is, if you turn the heat setting up all the way it should work. I was at Max. Tunning, Jeff's shop, this past week, and i saw him do a Red/clear for a 97+ tail. Keep in mind it was below freezing outside. Drove the car in, took out the lenses put them on top of a little space heater just to get them to room temp, and then worked the back seal with a heat gun, which is really just a hair dryer on steroids. After a few passes it came apart... Now replace the heat gun with a hair dryer and it may take a little longer but i don't see why it wouldn't work, so long that you have it set as hot as it will go. No baking them in the oven. just hold it close to the silicon seal and in a matter of time it should get to the point where it comes apart. If im not mistaken you don't want to rip apart the silicon, you just want to make it mailiable so that it will come apart, and save as much as you can. Ive personally never done all-clears, i still can't find them anywhere, but after reading How 2's and Seeing the 97+ tails done, i would think that the all-clears for 95-96 would work just the same. just my input
