hey guys, im really worried so can you please give me some advice..i missed my court date for my speeding ticket..i was on vacation and did not even know when it was..i just got my second notice today and im worried what will happen..any help?

 

this happined to my friend once, to my knowedge there's probably a warrent out for your arrest. Just goto the police station or courthouse and ask them. I could be wrong, i don't know to much about this field.

 

Well, I have had this happen to me, Out of town ticket, forgot... Well anyway. I'm sure it depends partly on what state you received the ticket, but in VA and NC I know for sure. You are found guilty of whatever it was you were charged with. You must pay the fine, whatever it is, and if you are not in court, the Judge has the ability to increase or decrease the fine asessed to your case. It may not be exactly what the court normally uses for a fee shedule. If you wait something like 30 days and have not paid, they will suspend your license in at least the state you got the ticket, and the hold will show up at the DMV when you go to renew. I would call the court who issued the summons, and tell them what happened. Assuming it wasn't a long time ago, you should be able to pay up and go on with your life.

ive had alot of experince with this so ill try and help you out. They normally give you a 2 week grace period. You should contact the courthouse and request another date. That is if you want to show up in court. You can always juss pay the fine although most likely the fees have increased. Its true they can put a warrant out for your arrest but most of the time they wont do that unless you already got a criminal record and they'll be less leanient...im assuming you dont..rite?? heeh. Lemme know and good luck...

 

k.. well here's my experiences.. depending on what u do they may not even make a warrent.. they'll continue ur case to a later date.. and should probably send u a notice in the mail.. other side.. depending on how fuked up your state is.. they may already have a warrent on u.. if u've been a good boy before u may just have a PTA which means u promise to apeaer.. but you may also have a really *****y judge and then run for the hills.. because he can throw failure to apear which is a fellony thats not a pretty word is it but take it from me.. unless ur a convicted crime boss or a murder they probably won't do the latter..

not only did i miss my date but i missed the 15 days the give to rescedual..now it says that now since i missed the 15 days, the will hold my DL and incress in fine..but i was out of the ****in country when the dates were! how can i show up when im on a cruise!

 

Can't you show the judge your receipts from the cruise? Then you can prove you were out of the country during that time period.

 

I don't know how many days over due you are, but all you have to do is call the court. Do it soon before they submit your name to the Dept of MV. DMV will suspend your License.
