Cold weather/Engine oil/Hard start

This morning it was about 0 degrees F out and my engine turned over about 5 times before it started. I know cold weather starts take longer, but could the oil weight be too much? Would dropping this down to 5W-30 be better?

Just another reason to switch to the benefits of synthetic lubricating oils/grease. Amsoil, Redline, Mobil 1 are all quality brands that will serve you and your car well.

You should always be running 5w30 in your VQ so matter what season. Just make a decision as to whether you want to use synthetic or dyno oil. Running thicker oil will make your engine lose HP also.

I just bought my car and it has 87k miles. Will switching to a full synthetic really make a difference compared to changing it every 3000 with regular oil?

How often should I change the oil and filter if I use a synthetic?

It can make a huge difference, especially for cold weather starts or hot weather protection.
