FYI: The Bose system costs $900, not 2 to 3 grand.

ye... i like it a lot too... a lot of audiophiles though would like to see a little more low-end bass... cause the bose woofer is a woofer and not a subwoofer... soo if u like more bass then u should get the subs... I LIKE BOSE!! THEIR MARKETING WORKED WONDERS ON ME.. HEHE

Bose not all it's cracked up to be

A lot of people think Bose stuff are the best, but they aren't. Their car stereos aren't bad for a factory system though...just over priced. They sound decent and you don't have to worry about people stealing them.

I purchased my Maxima with the Bose audio system and then added 2 Kenwood subs and an amp. I noticed that it's cheaper an better to just get the stock audio and change to a custom audio.
One funny thing happened the other day. I saw the salesman that sold me my car in the newspaper. He wasn't in an add. There was a headline mentioning him as a charlatan.

I think your just demanding too much from a factory system

If you compare other factory systems that cost as much as the Bose on the Maxima, the Maxima's is quite a value. I think the option is $699?? And its a great deal. Don't want to mess up the warrenty. Lesson learned, try a Professional Stereo Installer!

The bose system is quiete pathetic if you have heard the monsoon sound system in the firebirds or the mach 460 in the mustangs. I don't have a single peice of the stock stereo left in my car.

u crazy about that mach 460 sound system..those things suck...i haven't gotten a chance to hear a monsoon so i can't talk about those but i used to drive an expedition and that had a mach 460 sound system w/ an 8" sub (which the mustangs don't have) and the stereo in there is such a P.O.S. compared to my maxes bose...i like the bose...obviously its not as good as some aftermarket and obviously w/ a $700 option on an under $30k car its not gonna sound as good as a hummer w/ the monsoon system...

just have to argue about those mustangs...they are just cool looking engines w/ wheels and a POS body...thats all they are...engines...they can't corner or do anything other than drive fast in a straight line

if you want a good sound keep the bose and add subs...i did and w/ the right install people and w/ the right adapters, i'm upto 146.0 dB w/ 2 12s and my stock bose system (minus the sub...removed that for better air flow from trunk into cabin)

but its all upto you...people have different tastes in music and that can greatly influence the type of stereo you have...some people complain that the max stock has too much bass (i don't)

i've had people that work in car stereo shops that this was one of the most impressive stock stereos they have EVER heard...EVER (this was before the subs)

I don't have the bose system but i have heard it. It's immatation of a sub made me laugh. I have 2 kicker solo baric 12" woofers, Sony 6 1/2 inch xplods in the doors and polk audio tweeters in the front. Combined with a big amp and full dynamat it sounds quiet impressive. Except i just realize even more how much of a rattle factory the maximas are. And yes it was quiet a bit more expensive than the bose system but well worth it.

Hey Tex, I agree with you I have a 2001 Se 20th, the Bose system is quite good enough for me and they added a subwoofer on the 2001, you can easily make everything shake in the car.

I know some sound freaks will tell us that we have a crappy sound system which I dont agree. Talking about sounds I use to have a 25K Makintosh sound system
at home and it did not make me becoming a better man, I sold it and now my kids can play in the inground heated pool.

eh eh eh.

Also the clarity and sound reproduction to the Bose is real good. There is more to a system then watts and base.

boss imo is real good if you are comparing it to other stock stereos.. but that's stock.. now how much better you want to make your system depends on how deep your pockets are. there's always better.

loud or correct

The BOSE in the 2k1 AE is clear and correct with good separation. Loud enough for my wife but not quite loud enough for me. I won't be replacing it though. It is so close to what I could replace it with for the same cash that it won't be worth the trouble.
I wish the cd player handled MP3 cds.....
