The rear windows... they don't go down all the way on my Max. They go half way and then stop...is this a common thing with all Max's or is this fixable to where it'll go all the way down?

I believe its a damned safety feature required by our government. Parents were stupid and would leave little kids loose bouncing around the back seat, they'd fly out the window and die. So now we can't roll our back windows all the way down. I too would like to know if it's possible to change this.

rear wheel wells

I actually think it is because the rear wheel wells prohibit the windows from being rolled all the way down. This is common in newer cars that have a larger cabin size in comparison to the wheelbase.

Hrm, I can't remember being in any car in the past 10 years where the rear windows do roll all the way down. Even my mom's jeep cherokee. Anyone else know which answer is correct?

I think a few years ago, it was a safety feature required by law to prevent kids from falling out of the car. but I think now it's more like MI2KSE said.

But I have noticed that my friends with European cars, their rear windows can go all the way down, or at least until only 1 inch left. MB S class, E class, BMW 3/5 class, even VW Jetta can all do it...

Yay we're both right. Makes sense. "Since we can't roll the windows all the way down, lets lose some of this door."

My '99 Max GLE has rear windows that go all the way down..

Maybe it's only with all 5th Gens? Or only Canadian's Max's.

The rear windows in my grandmother's '97 Grand Marquis go all the way down!

I also think the main reason they do not go all the way down in the Max is because of the size of the rear quarter window.

It's impossible to have the rear windows to go all the way down for a 99. Are you refering to the front windows? I had a 95 before and it would only go a little bit pass halfway.

My '90 Accord had windows that rolled all the way down. I don't like how my 97's don't, but my mother's S70 gets 'em about 1/4 down... so it could be worse.
