I'm purchasing a set of new wheels in the next couple days and need to make a decision as to which tires to buy. I've narrowed the choices down to:

1. 215/50/17 Sumitomo HTR+ ($384.50 shipped at Tirerack.com)
or
2. 215/50/17 Hankook Ventus HRII H405 ($276+shipping on ebay).

I'm leaning toward ordering the Sumitomos because they seem to have a lot of positive reviews on tirerack.com. Do the Hankook tires suck? Or has anyone had a positive experience with them?

Sumitomo htr+ nothing but good things about them. only thing is they have a soft sidewall.

 

Nitto NT-555 - get em at your local Discount Tire. That size is gonna be right around $110/tire IIRC. I run 245/45/17 and they were about 125 each.

 

Check out the BF Goodrich G-force T\A KDWS I have 235\45\17 and they are great...good traction and good wear...only Z rated tire to have a 400 treadwear rating...but they really do grip well read the reviews about them at tirerack...they are great tires and only about 125 for that size a piece...good luck

 

thanks for all the suggestions.. does anyone have ANY experience with hankook ventus hrII tires?? i'm probably going to decide between these two types, so let me know what you guys think. as of now, i'm gonna probably go with Sumitomo HTR+ unless someone convinces me otherwise.
