Okay so I have the stock stereo out and I'm trying to remove it from the brackets that it mounts on. It is screwed in remarkably tight. I'm stripping the screws. To anyone that removed the stock stereo, how did you toast these dammed screws?

Okay so I bought some liquid wrench... didn't help, ended up stripping one of the screws (what the hell do they use to put em in?). I got four of em out and had to drill the other four out. But now I have my new radio in my car and I've already listened to MP3s straight off a CDRW. I mentioned before, I got the dash piece from Crutchfield. It's okay. It cost like $12. Definately doesn't look as nice as the GXE dash but was about $90 cheaper. I would've use the Nissan parts had Courtesy got the order right the first time. I'll post pics tomorrow so curious parties can see the crutchfield kit.

Leverage. I actually thought I was the only one with this problem. We got a screwdriver with a 10" handle and actually tightened first, then unscrewed. I guess its some installer trick, rocking the screws I guess. Power screw drivers do not work, only strip the screws.

pritty much all stock radios are the same way. gotta use a drill that has a slip in it so it snaps the screws as it unscrews. kinda how when they put tires on your car the drill slips after soo meny pounds, I think 10pound drill should be enough, also use bits that have a thicker face then sharp face, Sharp will strip in a hurry.

I used a broad phillips bit and I even jerry-rigged it so I could turn the bit with my ratchet. Just stripped the buggers. Oh well, the new stereo is in now.
