Adding a shock sensor to factory alarm.

A while back I saw an editorial or something about adding a shock sensor to the factory alarm. Could somebody refresh my memory on where to find it? TIA

you could get a decent alarm installed for about 150 bucks with those features included, i think that would be a better alternative - you will also recieve about 10-15% off on your insurance

unless you had an aftermarket system installed by your dealer, you DO NOT HAVE a factory alarm. Its a keyless entry system with horn honk and door trigger, lol.

i think that the 95/96 maxima's do have a factory alarm. if you lock the car. with a window/s open let it sit for 2 minutes. after letting it sit reach inside the door and use the unlock button or open it yourself manually. fi the horn and lights go off you have a factory alarm. like any other alarm it wont prevent people from stealing items inside the car but it will make it difficult to steal the car itself. they will not beable to start the car until you put a key in the door and unlock the car.

I have a 96 with a factory alarm. It does everything that DAREN explained. The alarm also goes off if you arm it and try to open the engine bay. I need to hook up a shock sensor to it though.

Yeah thats what I thought, I would call it more of a theft detterent system but if you add a shock sensor or a glas break detector, not sure of the exact name I don't se why it would be any different than any other system. It has ignition shutoff, door sensors, if you add a quality shock sensor, glass sensor and maybe a siren how much different would it be from any other alarm?

like i said its a keyless entry system with horn honk, parking light and door driggers wired up to it. I know cause my car came with it also. When i installed my "alarm" i did not have to bypass anything, cause keyless enrty doesnt not arm itself automatically or cut off the starter, whereas my new alarm does all of the above and more

right and wrong.

it does not arm itself automatically but it does kill the starter if it is triggered, via the doors. the hood and trunk work in the same fassion. you can test them by leaving them open and then arming the alarm. thats how the sytem worked on my VE and i am pretty sure it the same on my (early) VQ.

why do you think people who have cheaply/poorly installed aftermarket systems have troulbe starting their cars. the actuators/switches that are used to unlock the doors trigger the factory alarm. they stand their clicking the key fob (aftermarket) like mad and the car wont start and the factory horn is blowing synchronous with the lights. i have witnessed this several times and got a good laugh, or even better; i helped them disable it by turning the key in the door lock. as far as i know a good installer will disable the factory systerm when you get an aftermaket 1.
