Crooked Dealership clutch warning
Crooked Dealership clutch warning
About 11 months ago I brought my car to a Nissan dealer to get a new clutch put in as mine was slipping real bad. I get it back after a couple of days and it seems fine. About 3 months later, I notice that the clutch slips when I powershift sometimes. I think this is normal for the maxima until I start asking around. Turns out they put a crappy key value clutch in there. Now, I can't power shift at all or the clutch will just spin up real high and then gradually catch. I've taken it back to the dealership twice and they won't replace it under warranty and don't seem to care at all. I even offered to pay the difference to get a real OEM Nissan clutch in there, but they won't do that either. So, a word of warning to all, MAKE SURE YOU GET A REAL NISSAN CLUTCH when you take it to the stealership to get it done. Better yet, take it to a real mechanic, as I should have done.
The same dealership tried to make me pay a bull**** "electronics check" $70 fee when I brought it in to get a belt replaced under warranty that they also screwed up.
I called 1800NISSAN1 and told them about the clutch, and they told me to take it to another dealership they recommended. So I take it up there, a mechanic drives it, see what happens when he speedshifts it, and basically says, "yeah, I see that, thats odd". They had me go talk to the pedophile looking service manager, who didn't even stop rummaging through the papers on his desk before he told me there was nothing he would do about it either. He also didn't talk to the mechanic about the problem, he just didn't want to get involved.
So, I'm never ever going back to a Nissan dealership for anything, not even an oil filter. The dealership I took it to for the clutch replacement is Robbins Nissan in Houston. Don't go there. The other dealership I took it to for the clutch check was Tom Pea****. I now have a car I can't drive hard in or the clutch will burn up some more. Thanks Nissan!

did they put in the "key value" clutch in? Those are the ****tiest clutches available ($197)! They're like refurbished/used or something like that. You have to ask them for the japanese OEM one ($237)... those are the ones that came with your car when you first bought it from factory. I called a couple of dealerships and of the 4 I called, only 1 of them offered the OEM one. The rest only carried the key value horse ****.
thanks for the heads up.
thanks for the heads up.
most places only carry the key value one but they can order it if you ask them to. see my pic below with the key value clutch? I didnt know there was a real OEM one at the time so after I found out I returned that thing and got the real deal.
