Can we talk about Maxus without starting a flame war?

I'm gonna try this thread again, this time, let's keep the flames somewhere else.

Please answer only these questions:

1. WHERE should it be held?
2. WHEN should it be held? (spring, before school starts again, june, january, august, etc. don't need exact dates.)
3. Do you want one single location for Maxus THIS YEAR, or several places across the country on one day, so that people won't have to drive as far to attend any one gathering.

In this thread, you get 1 vote. screw it up or post more than once and I will stuff you in a box and UPS your a$$ to Palm Beach with the rest of the senile old farts that can't vote correctly.

Disclaimer: This isn't meant to make anyone mad, I just want to start a list of exactly what everyone wants. I'll stick it all in some sort of crude table, in order to try and help plan this thing so it will happen the way we all want it.
Please don't give me a dissertation on why you answered the way you did. (this isn't high school and I don't care how you decided- I just want your answers)

thanks for your input.

June/July would be nice, different location around the US would be nice. Maybe break it up by regions, Northern, Southern etc.
Just my input,

1. WHERE should it be held?
I believe it should be held in the Northeast. We have the most member per area group in the country. We always have huge meets too. The DC meets and the NY meets are always big(30-50 Maxs). It would be convinient for the people here to. Not to mention if you're going counter closewise(South-->South East-->North East, etc).

2. WHEN should it be held? (spring, before school starts again, june, january, august, etc. don't need exact dates.)
I say we do it some time this summer. Warm, sunny and easy to accomadate since many are students..

3. Do you want one single location for Maxus THIS YEAR, or several places across the country on one day, so that people won't have to drive as far to attend any one gathering.
I say one gathering. But if one group doesn't want to travel then 2+ meets.

It's gotta be in the Dallas. Pure and simple. It needs to stay in one place and during a summer weekend.

Not to start flames, but......

why does it have to "stay in one place"? thats really limits the experiences of the meet, same couple hundred faces and cars every year.......I'd say 3-4 regional meets across the country, videotapes and pictures! then everybody can see whats going on across the board! sorry Matt, I guess I voted twice, huh........(check the other BBS)

1)I'm good for wherever, but NE sounds good.
2)July/August
3)I'd say one big meet, maybe 2 for West Coast people.

i don't see how you can limit there can only be 1 meet.
let's say it's on west coast, then we have 50 guys here on east coast will most likely say ok fine let's have a meet too, since we all reserved this weekend for a maxus anyway and we have nothing better to do.
what are you gonna do that them? tell them that they aren't allowed?? bang them from this bbs if they do hold their own meet(even if they don't call it maxus)???

there is no way to make everyone happy, and more patheticly, there is no way to even make the majority happy, because no one location has the majority of members from this bbs.
most of people would love to go to maxus, but most of them aren't willing to(or better say unrealastic) travel across half of country to attend. thus it seems to me multi-meet is the most logical way to do it.

chris, we've been through all of this before and it turned into a flame war.. Your postings are exactly why I phrased things the way I did. I asked for your opinions on WHEN and WHERE, not why it should be this or that way. Will you attend if it's held somewhere near you? If so, voice your oninion on when and where, and we'll put your name on the list of votees. If not, STFU and stop wasting my time by gumming up the process.

you get the first ticket to palm beach. start packing- it's gonna be a lung bumpy ride in the back of a UPS truck.

1.NorthEast - NJ preferred
2.During warm weather
3.Two locations, if necessary. Seems like a NorthEast and a SouthWest meet would be best. FWIW, I know the owner of a Nissan dealer in central NJ that would be open to the idea.

IOWA

We should have one and make it in Iowa! Top 5 reasons to pick Iowa:

(1) It's a central location,
(2) We have high speed limits,
(3) Lots of open road,
(4) Gotta love those farmers daughters, and
(5) I live here and can host 3-5 people in my house!

We could always go ditch hunting since I always have ammo in my glove box and my gun in the trunk...

precisely the reason NOT to have it in the midwest.... =) JK - couldn't help myself, please don't ship me off.

I'd say DC in June.

Personal preference

DC on August 18 weekend.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I'll probably be in Down Under until then. I'll be driving on the wrong side with the sun in the wrong direction nearly exactly on the opposite side of the world from DC.

I would nominate the DC/Baltimore area. Whenever is fine. No more south, I can't take the heat! Next year should be West coast, then back to dallas

We need multiple locations!

Anywhere North East and preferably not in the hottest months of the year. Close to the Canadian/US border, well...as close as it can be!

cheers,

five

heres a simple plan:

West Coast members: meet on West Coast (whenever)

East Coast members: X2 MEETS, one in say,Texas and the other somewhere in the New-England states, not DC again!

>>> chris, we've been through all of this before and it turned into a flame war..

No.
My reply doesn't turn this thread into a flame war, it's how you react and reply to my post might turn this thread into a flame war.
I can use the same theory, if you STFU about my reply, there won't be anything, right?
It takes two people to disagree, I alone won't bring a flame.

>>> Your postings are exactly why I phrased things the way I did. I asked for your opinions on WHEN and WHERE, not why it should be this or that way.

But you honestly don't think it's silly???
I mean, doesn't everyone want the meet to be near him/her?? What's the point of asking something you already knew the answer??

>>> Will you attend if it's held somewhere near you? If so, voice your oninion on when and where, and we'll put your name on the list of votees.

Ugh... Sure, I want it to be on Northeast. Hmm, are you surprised???

>>> If not, STFU and stop wasting my time by gumming up the process.

It's pathetic how you don't consider this whole thing is a waste of time. What don't you know that you are trying to find out??? Everything is just dejavu allover again. You ask the samething over and over, people reply the samething over and over.

>>> you get the first ticket to palm beach. start packing- it's gonna be a lung bumpy ride in the back of a UPS truck.

Sorry, talk normal please, I don't understand your local dialogue.

Maxus...

Maybe it should be moving. Start in one state and move to the next, that way everyone is satisfied. Or it could be local... start in L.A. (Southern Cali.) and end in Santa Rosa (Northern Cali.).
