94 gxe tranny, oh no!
Hey all,
I think my transmission is going out on me. It started two days ago on the freeway I would hit the accelerator and the car would just not pick up and the rpms surged. When I got home, I checked my transmission fluid, looked a little higher than normal, but it was clean (just had tune-up + transmission flush 2 months ago).
Anyway, I've got my mechanic looking at it, but I fear the worst.
Should I get it rebuilt (~$1200) considering:
1. bought the car at 152k in October 2001 for 4.2k. now have 168k on it.
2. replaced timing belt/shocks/brakes for an additional ~$1100 back then.
Is it worth it? Pray for me pleeez.

if you get the tranny done...you really wont have to worry about any other major problems on your car as long as you dont rag it...i have had my tranny rebuilt and i dont know if i would ever give up on this car...maybe for a GSR...
thanks for the comment.
just got back from the shop. He said he can put in a used on for $1200 that would only last 1-2yrs or a rebuilt one that would last longer. The rebuilt one would run me $1500 instead.
What do you guys think? I told him to do the $1200 one, but should I opt for the higher one? I want to keep my car for at least another 5 yrs I think. (I have 167k on it).
