Fuel Cutoff TSB
Fuel Cutoff TSB
Sorry to bring this old one up again, but in the FAQs there doesn't seem to be a conclusion to this TSB.. Nissan attempted a fix but there were mixed results. Anyone know if this TSB ever fixed the bucking??? I'm still not sure what the symptoms are??
When my car (2000 SE 5spd) is cold (especially below freezing), I get a bucking around 2000rpm for a few minutes. So for the first few minutes I keep her at 2500 rpm+, or 1500 & below (idle etc)... Once its been driven for a few minutes she runs perfectly fine.... I've read the whole thread and am still a little uncertain of this TSB..
Anyone care to shed some light here???

I would but I think I need more info on what the exact TSB iz... none of the links work anymore...
The one thing that REALLY glares at me here is that noone said it went away after the engine heated up... Mine only does this cold for a few minutes when at around 2000rpm...

Are you complaining about the low speed parking lot bucking? It doesn't go away 100%, however the TSB makes it MUCH much better.
What you are referring too still happens when the ECU artificially holds the RPMs up while cold. I just don't let off the throttle withOUT pushing in the clutch FIRST. You have to modulate the clutch until the RPMs come down from 1300 or so to 650. After the first decrease by the ECU to ~900rpms, it's no where near as touchy. I'll usually wait until the ECU kicks down to 900 RPMS before I drive off.
My biggest remaining gripe is when I'm going slightly downhill at say 50mph and the car is accelerating, so I let off to maintain speed and get a MAJOR buck everytime I reapply throttle.
If I drive it like a stole it, I never notice, however when I'm cruising and constantly let off the throttle/reapplying throttle, that is when I get the bucking.

I don't know which of the 300 threads you were able to read on the issue
, however, the best test to determine if you need the TSB is this:While stopped and in nuetral (or in gear with clutch fully depressed), try to hold the engine at 2500 RPMs. In my car, I could never do it. If you gave a touch of gas, the RPMs would shoot up above 3K. If you let off the gas a hair, RPMs would drop down to idle. It was impossible to hold any steady RPM between 2K-3.5K.
This made it really hard to get a solid launch while in racing mode

There were several other tests, but the concensus was that this was the best. I highly recommend the TSB, it made a world of difference in daily driving for me.

When its cold and I'm on the gas I only get the bucking when I start to come off the throttle without pressing the clutch... if I get back on the gas I need to bring it up a couple hundred rpm to get the bucking to go away... if I rev up to 3000+ before shifting cold, there are no problems... But I want to be easy on her cold, and thats the problem... Once shes warmed up it runs perfect...
Maybe that parking lot thing though is an issue, I'll have to experiment... Does anyone have a pdf or jpg of the TSB?
