How many of you have the Valet key?

The little red key that only works in the ign? I got that key from the maxima owner I bought the car from. But I've never heard of or seen one before.

Before I knew anything about Maximas, my cousin let me borrow his 1992 GXE Maxima and he gave me a valet key plus a normal black key. The head of the valet key looked sorta rectangular instead of oval like the regular key.

On my 92 SE, I didn't get one.

Got mine too.

Here's a tip I got from a locksmith.

Copy your original keys and onto blanks made of brass (most are).

The brass is much easier on the locks.

This way, the original key remains in mint condition and the lock stays in good shape as it doesn't wear like from the original.

I liked how the new Max looked in the commercial. The black one drifting in the end.

Yah, I've got the valet key, but not a little red one
On another note, what can you do if your original key starts to wear out? Mine needs some really special treatment sometimes to turn the ignition.

now i ask wut is the use of a valet key - i mean really the only use is so no one else can get into the glove box. i mean the trunk u can open from the inside anyway by pressin the boton on the side of the door.

Acura'z on the other hand have a trunk lock botton in their glove box - so if u lock ure glove box and put the trun thing on lock- both cant open - i think daz a lil better idea?

you can lock the trunk with the regular key...when you do this it doesn't allow the trunk release lever to open the trunk

There is a lever on the latch inside the trunk that doesnt allow the trunk to open without the key.

My valet key is the keyless entry on the passengers side and a screwdriver, at least for the next two weeks or so... I'm picking up my parts car today and one of the first swaps I'm going to do with it is the ignition switch so I can FINALLY put my power locks back in...
Although... It is pretty nice for the mornings when you're not paying attention and stick the wrong key in the ignition... It'll still start up!

Nope, don't have mine. My original key was pretty shot when I got it. Went to Nissan where they cut a new one with the VIN. Don't really need it. Just put a new trunk lock in and it has it's own key.

Now the question, how many people use it for it's intended purpose? I valet park all the time here in Las Vegas....
