Clutch chattering, one of the causes

As many know I have done many clutch installations and have it packed down to the science thanks to the help of my 15 year old brother and his creative ways

Yesterday and today I did two ACTs on Maximas, today I was done and decided to read the instructions it comes with and it says that it is very important that your hands are clean if not it will lead to the clutch chatter. Lots of folks here complain about clutch chatter and I am wondering why?

Did you pay a mechanic to do it? I tell you what not many mechanics are willing to stop and wash their hands to install your clutch not unless they are wearing rubber gloves etc..I know I wash my hands completely when installing brakes or clutches so that didnt apply to me. But just wanted everyone to know that may be one of the causes why some of you guys are experiencing clutch chattering.

That is pretty good Jaime. I watched my mechanic put in my clutch and before he even took the clutch out of the box, I had him wash his hands clean. Also, after immediately resurfacing the flywheel, I also had him clean his hands. After everything was complete, and I started the car, no chatter. I was amazing. But, when we did this same thing on my JWT Stage II, I still got MASSIVE clatter....oh well.

Hmm interesting. I've never had problems with clutch chatter or clutch noise. Of course I've done all the work myself. I handle the disc like a record (gasp what are those?) and clean the pressure plate AND flywheel with brake cleen. A mechanic might not be as careful.

right not everyone is as careful, if they have many cars they are going to rush very fast, just wanted to pass this along to those that have the ACT and complain about clutch chatter.
