opening a max w/ a slimjim

anyone know if its possible to open a maxima up with a slimjim bar thing? My friend just locked himself out of a corolla and I was able to open his door with my slimjim in less than a minute.. Makes me think about my maxima

What do you guys think?

I've locked my keys in my Max twice, and a slimjim didn't help at all. The only way I could do it was put a wedge between the door and the top of the car, and fish a hanger in to pop the unlock latch...best bet, carry a spare in your wallet, which I got after that experience.

Man, with the keyless entry, I haven't managed to lock my keys in my car... especially since I lock my car with the keys. Makes it kind of hard. Now, if you open your trunk to get something out, and then out the keys down and shut the trunk with the car already locked, that would suck.

I learned the hard way too. Now, always keep a spare in the wallet.

I locked my keys in my trunk once... AAA had no problem slim-jimming my car...so I guess it could be done easily.

its not possible to use a traditional slim jim. you have to use whats called an "S" bar. maxima's door lock pin actuators go horizontal instead of vertical, so a slim jim wouldn't work. the s bar wraps around one of the actuators and you slide it left or right. this is from experience. i forgot something at home and ran inside to get it with the motor running. well, my aftermarket alarm locks the car after a certaint time frame. i had the heat going full blast because it was winter. 2 hours later, it gets unlocked and my car is like a sauna. a ice cold coke i had in there was burning hot.

well that's when the tabs on the slim jim gets hooked around the bar and you slide it sideways....that's the hardway to do it anyway.

May be a piece of wood with a bunch of nails pointing up on your drivers seat would be nice!

i think the popout clears would be too easy :P if anyone would steal his clears they'd find the key and take the entire car with it :P

Duh...yeah that wouldn't be good.

Why would I give hints? I'm already risking the $100. I'll give each person 5 minutes. I am in so cal. And the other people lined up can't see where the person is looking to make it fair, haha.
