Its worse than I thought

Tried to trade the Max in at my dealership today... best they would offer is 14,000 on my car with a guarantee that I return it to stock. Thats pretty sad for a car which was stickered at 27k and change last July 5th when I bought it (didn't pay that w/employee discount). Nearly 50% depreciation in 9 months and 16,000 miles, looks like I'm going to have to park it in the city with the windows down and the valet key in the center console to get rid of this thing. I was expecting a bit of a loss but that amount is a real kick in the 'nads.

That kind of depreciation is normal, considering Dealer is trying to get rid of all the 02 and 03's to replace with 04's.

Don't hate nissan for it, check out other cars and you'll find the depreciation isn't that much different.

I think after 2 years the depreciation may catch up with what you own on the loan. That of course depends on your interest rate.

what type of mods did you have? Acura was willing to bend to 13,500 for my 2000 SE Auto with 48K miles. Of course thats because they were doing anything to get cars off their lot.

thats a bum deal... I've been offered more than that on Infiniti's lot (on a G35C with no markup) for my 2k w/40K miles.

I've been thinking about visiting an Infiniti dealer.

man, check out Freshalloy.com's forums.. they are having the same issues we are with service.. MAF's, CD changers and such, surprisingly the service writers seem alittle overwhelmed due to the success of the g35. honestly, some of their service stories sound *way* too much like ours right now. but again, I think thats attributed to just selling so many cars. Not that it would make me feel any better about crappy service on my brand new G35C.

a few excerpts.. there are alot of positive posts too, these are just ones that remind me of what we deal with

Yeah the only way to keep your depreciation at its lowest is to keep the mileage low, keep the car in tip top condition and keep it for at least 3 years.

The depreciation is at its least after the first 3 years.
