How do you fix your stock Se wing when it rusts out?

On either side of my oem wing, the underside mounting is all rusted out. I don't think it will even hold into the stock clips anymore. You guys just glue it? With what type of glue? Window weld or similar?

I was thinking of somehow using the motor mount stuff to fill the rusted voids and somehow insterting some new type of stud(or similar) to attach to the wing to the trunk. I don't know if there is access to attach a nut/bolt system like the center mount.

replace it with an aftermarket factory replacement spoiler thats not nerf material

I got a quote from a local guy that said he would sell me one for $150 installed that was a factory replacement plastic wing that will look just like and go in the factory holes...might check on that but I have heard people using super glue and mirror adhesive but not sure how well that works.

The idea of filling the area and putting new studs sounds like a good idea...get the install kit from nissan that has the studs and put them in there in the right place and fill it up with the motor mount stuff.

That's the tricky part. Is locating the stock hardware in the correct spot. Because you have to have the spoiler upside down to fill the void.

How do you remove the two white clips in the trunk? Pry them off? ick.

which ones? I assume you mean the female ones stuck down in the trunk? If so they are connected on 2 sides with little pressure arms (not sure what they would really be called but you get the idea) I just kinda rocked them back and forth till I found the right way to pull them off.

if your talking about the studs that broke down in the other part then just take some pliers and catch around the left over part to pull them up.

I guess the female ones on the trunk. the two on each end of the trunk. I guess there's no access to these from under the trunk? I would have to drill some big holes on the underside of the trunk lid to use bolts/nuts (like the center mount)

yeah plus you will have leaking problems because the mounts have a sealer under them to keep water out of the trunk.

I have an idea to go along with your. go to a shop that installs wings and get the hole finders they have (plastic things that look like a t with a hole in the center so you can drill through and tell them where to drill holes) put them in the hole where the studs are supposed to be and put tape on them (sticky facing up)...set your wing down on them and tape the locators on the wing. Now when you pull your wing up you will know where the studs are supposed to go.

its basically opposite of how you would mount a regular wing.

Yeah or pour that goop in the void and premount the new clips/studs. Then turn the wing over and "mush" them into the not 100% harned goop. Hopefully it will mark where it's supposed to go. Then remove the clips/studs and "mush" them into the goop and leave them there until it hardens up 100%. Then install as normal.

i crazy glued mine down and yes it was kinda rusted... but so far no problems with rust peeking out nor the wing coming up, i glued it last summer. Im too poor to afford a stillen wing right now, the stock wing dont bother me. Once it comes up again then ill think about it

i fixed mine this weekend. i first filled it with expandable foam (aerosol can) then put a layer of peel and seal as a base then a layer of 3m body tape. make sure u mask off every thing that foam gets really sticky. i put too much foam and it expanded too much so i masked it off and spray painted the foam to match my car. it is getto but cost me about 20 bucks totalto fix as apossed to a new or used wing plus it would have costed like 100 bones to repaint the used wing.

I (well, not me but this POS body shop) attempted to replace the rusted part with this epoxy and install some new clip in factory positions, but the dumba$$e$ there were too lazy to measure the **** out properly, so they kept screwing it up. After about 3 months of screwing around with them, I bought a factory replace from wings west, or sarona, or somewhere (I got it from eBay, but don't know the brand), but it was for a 3rd Gen. They bondo'ed the old holes closed and installed the new one with new holes

stock Se wing when it rusts out?

i went to a body shop. they used this hi-tack rubbery 2-sided tape adhesive stuff. that was about 4 years ago and it still sticks. it is not so perfectly flush, but it is good enough (for now). when it finally pulls up, i may remove the wing and just have it replaced. to actually fix the original one may not be worth anyone's time or money. that is why they just taped it. it is not that noticeable (yet).
