I might have clogged catalytic converter... If it comes to replacement of I have couple of questions

- is it good idea to leave to repair to put cat converter of their choice.. (sound bad)
or
- buy online and then get it replaced...?

- Which are good (reasonable priced)...ones? I am not performance guy.. average joe who once in a while like to drive to feel what maxima is all about...

I have heard about Greddy,Random Technologies...

- Should I just replace just converter or whole system...(converter+muffler) ?

Buy a carsound cat from www.warpspeedperformance.com for $107.50 shipped with new gaskets and bolts. This is a high flow cat at a very reasonable price.

 

You could also save some cash if you bought one off ebay and had it welded on by a muffler shop. I bought the a similar Carsound model minus the flanges and it only cost me around $40 including shipping.

 

or if you really want to save money and you don't mind polluting the enviroment, you could get a test-pipe. i got one for $30 shipped on ebay with new gaskets and bolts. the fit was perfect and there was a noticeable power increase. but hey, this is only if you don't mind going cheap.

 

...or you could just go open exhaust, ride by your local law enforcement official, and go WOT! They love that kinda stuff.

 

Are you guys in the states required to have a cat in there? Here in New Zealand, there are bugger all exhaust emmision rules. My cat was leaking around the ends, so an exhaust shop just cut it out, and welded in some pipe.. car sounds a lot louder now, and is noticably quicker.
