Smells like...... feet!
Smells like...... feet!
Well, I've been meaning to ask this for a while. When I start up the car and turn on the AC or Vent about half the time it smells like feet for a few minutes. The microfilter isn't very old and it's been like this since I got it. Not a huge thing, the ladies always comment though and a playa can't have complaints. Anyone else getting the same eau de jock strap when they turn on the blower?

Yea mine does it too. I think mold gets in the filter after it gets damp from the AC. I plan on taking out the filter and having a look sometime soon.
There should be an overflow tube for water to be able to run out of, this is where the water comes from that you see underneath your car after your AC has been on. Sometimes it can get clogged with dirt and dust, if you can find it and stick a coat hanger up there to unclog it that should fix your problem, this happened on my eclipse and it sounds like what your going through.

spray some ozium every now and then into the intake ducts located infront of the windshield by the wipers.
put the fan on full blast while spraying with a/c on with windows open.....let it run for 10-15min
that will kill any mold/odors in there...

But...be sure it is draining correctly.

FAQ
i think there's an entry in the 4th or 5th gen faq sections talking about stink from the environmental system... basic solution is to empty a new bottle of lysol into the intake part (not the engine intake!!!) with the fan on high and cycle through all the vent settings... then drive with your windows down for a while to get rid of the lysol smell.
if you have leather i would cover them with towels first, but i am a bit paranoid.
