Advice about buying a 1992 SE? HELP!

I am thinking of buying a 1992 SE from a friend of mine. It has 50,000 miles on it, mainly highway, a little commuting. It is in mint condition and he has never had any problems with it and it is well cared for, all regular maintenance done on time. My current car, a 1993 camry has a 165,000 on it so I am thinking of replacing it with the Maxima. He is asking $5000. So what have been your experiences with this car? Reliable? Any major problems I should be weary of? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'd buy it. VTC's are an issue with this car, expensive to fix - but its debatable that they even need to be fixed.

He's selling it cause he is a general contractor and just bought a truck he really needs to use to haul around tools. his wife doesn't like it cause it has too much power for her...so it all sounds legit. plus we know guy decently well....i think i will buy it, i have gotten a lot of good responses. thanks everyone!
