I own 2 JL 12w3 w/JL AUDIO 500/1 amp, ALOT OF RATTLING. :(

Hey folks,

I was wondering what you all did to try to eliminate the rattling in the back, I have already padded the license plate, and taken off those protectors for the child seats. But I think most of the rattling is coming from that wooden board that is underneath that covering in the back seats right under the rear window.

Second part of the question: What can I do to make more bass come through to the cabin area, I will be dynamatting soon, but like if I fold my seats down the bass sounds awesome, but it sounds okay if the seats are up. I once saw someone put a sqaure whole in the wooden board area mentioned above (area above back seats, below rear window), I wanted to know what process was involved in that. Help! :P Also, would a capacitor make my system sound any better, I get some dimming light action right now with 500 watts. :/ Thanks for all the help guys!

Check the How-To's. Theres a couple write-ups on sound deadening the trunk.

i have 2 10 w3s in a similar setup to yours.... Dynamatting would help, but its a pain in the ***. I never dynamatted, i just deal with the rattling... Honestly, i wouldn't go cutting holes in the rear deck, how about removing the bose woofer, the cust cover etc? If your box clears that hole i think extra bass will leak out. My setup has a sealed box so i can't do that... I keep the gain on the woofers low most of the time anyhow to fill the bass note, not punch all the time. The higher i put the gain the worst the rattling gets (as well as the rest of the music getting totally drowned out) I hope that helps.

A compasitor would provide you with more power on the big base lines making your sound system sound better. I myself ported the rear deck and put some foam between the layers in the rear deck.

Check my homepage page 4 for pics and the link I followed in order to pad my rear deck was:

This was the best thing I've ever done. The rattling completly went away giving me awsome base again. If you have any questions please just PM me. Thanks.

I would put down some DynoMat, Raammatt, fatmatt orbe cheap like me and buy peel and seal from home depot. Then put the foam on top. That should do the trick.
